Online Backups

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I wish I had known about I-Drive E awhile back when my hubby’s computer crashed before I had a chance to transfer everything. I didn’t have enough room on my computer left to transfer over everything hubby had on his, and I didn’t have the time to burn cds of every little thing. If I had known about I-Drive E I could have payed a little less than $5 a month to backup his entire hard drive. Even now I’m considering one of the free features they offer, 2 gigs of backup space for free! I currently run dvd backups every month, but having the option to have an encrypted Online Backup is a great option for me. I was even thinking about using the free backup for my blog. I want to know that if something happens, I know I have my blog backed up every week, and this would be a great place to do it. What I like most of all is the drag and drop interface, so it’s easy to use with Windows. If you’re interested check out idrive.com

Your Own TV Show?

Want to have your own live tv show straight from your webcam? You can do that now with Person.com. Unlike a lot of the other services out there, it’s free to become a member, and free to share your webcam shows live. You can choose to broadcast to everyone or just to certain people. This comes in handy if you need to create a video conference. Use it to talk privately to your friends and family, or create a video conference to work from home! Other users don’t have to have a webcam to participate. If you’re into online dating, there’s also personal ads. I think this is a great idea, as long as there are limits. You don’t have to be a member to view the webcams, so I don’t want to see any porn type shows popping up on the public broadcast. Otherwise I think it’s a great site. There’s also a hot or not rating game where you can rate other members, and a game to flirt with other members lol. I think it’s an interesting idea! Don’t forget to check out the live chat, too!

Easy CrockPot Pork Roast

I’ve had this pork roast sitting in my freezer for a couple weeks now. My mom sent it over along with some pork chops even though she knows I hate cooking pork. I don’t exactly hate cooking it. I’m more like scared of cooking it because of how strict you have to be with making sure it reaches a certain temperature and cooks exactly right and all that junk. I’ve just always been scared of cooking pork, and the fact that I just don’t like a lot of pork doesn’t help either. I’ve only had 1 porkchop in my life that I was able to eat, and that was only because it was a stuffed porkchop and didn’t even taste like one.

When it comes to BBQ though, I prefer pork, so I decided to suck it up and cook this roast. Beef roasts are my specialty anyway, so how hard could it be right? I started looking online for a pretty easy crockpot pork BBQ recipe and all the recipes I found required so much that I just about scared myself out of making it. Then I clicked on one last link and found this quick and easy recipe posted by Diana Rattray.

Myron’s Barbecue Pork Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

* pork shoulder roast
* 1 large onion
* 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
* barbecue sauce, see directions
* toasted or heated sandwich buns

PREPARATION:
1. Place pork roast in crockpot.
2. Add large onion, sliced and 2 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce.
3. Add water to cover.
4. Crock on low all day (at least 12 hours).
5. Remove roast, discarding cooking water. Save onions.
6. Fork-shred pork, discarding any fat and bones.
7. Return shredded meat and onions to slow cooker/Crock Pot.
8. Dump a bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce over it and crock an hour or so on low until heated thoroughly.
9. Serve on heated buns.
10. Excellent! Tried and true, many times over the last 20 years!

Of course, we don’t like onions, so I’ll leave that out, but I did add a little onion powder for the flavor. Hubby has an issue with the texture of the onions and I’m allergic to them, but not to onion powder. I know we’re weird! I’ll let ya know how the BBQ turns out in….12 hours lol.

Under The Weather

I just wanted to stop in and write a few words today, even if it isn’t much. I had planned to share a few things today, but I’m just too sick to do so. My allergies are hitting me hard right now, and I just want to sleep. I popped some allergy meds this morning, then hubby and I met up with a friend for a couple hours of riding in the mountains, but I just couldn’t enjoy it. I felt so sick I just wanted to go home. By the time I got home I felt like puking all over the place, so I think I’ve picked up a virus on top of the allergies. At least we got to work out our plans for our next Deal’s Gap trip.

We got a cabin up near the Gap, and 6 of us are trailering the bikes and riding up. It’s going to be nice this time because we’ll get to ride both Saturday and Sunday, plus it won’t be as tiring since we won’t be riding 2 1/2 hours up there and back home all in the same day. Trailering is going to make it so much easier on us. Today I met the other couple who will be going with us, and it’s awesome because she rides her own bike. If all goes well, and we have 2 bikes by the end of the summer, then I’ll have 2 girls to ride with. We’ll be able to plan our own “girls ride” while the boys go do their thing.

Okay, well looking at the screen for this long is making me feel sick again, and I don’t feel like throwing up on the keyboard, so hopefully I’ll be back very soon (later today hopefully) with some new stuff for you guys!
