Switching The Cable Again

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I think I’m going to try to convince hubby to drop our cable tv package again. We recently dropped it from every channel cable offers including all the movie channels and on demand down to just basic expanded. We’ve got right at 100 channels now, but I just realized we never watch most of them. During the day I might turn the tv on for some background noise, but I normally find a home improvement show or “who’s ya baby’s daddy” paternity test talk show for background noise.

At night we mostly watch TLC, Discovery, National Geographic, Speed, and the channels that are already free to us. I checked today and realized all the channels we watch are in the basic package. We could be saving another $20 a month just dropping the expanded portion. It’s bad enough we’ve had so many problems with our cable company. I don’t need to give them anymore money than they deserve.

Vote For Christine!

Christine over at The Passionate Ailurophile has entered the Ben Spark Soda Club contest, and I really want her to win! She’s in 3rd place right now, but she’s still got a couple days to pull through! I really would like to see her win, and I know she wants to win badly! Christine is even running her own contest to help her get votes. She’s going to give away a $25 Amazon Gift Certificate to one lucky blogger just for spreading the word about voting for her. I was already well into writing my post to support her before I even read about her contest, but this is such a great idea!

So go vote for Christine now! She’s a very big Ben Spark fan, and I really think she deserves to win!

Thanks Hubby!

If I left it up to hubby to tell me about things, I would never know about anything. I was going through his jean pockets tonight cleaning everything out so I could wash them, and I found a note in his pocket. I saw it was written in a kid’s handwriting so of course I opened it. It was a note from his 12 yr old sister. She made him a key chain out of plastic wire in the colors to match the bike. She wrote on the note to tell me she didn’t make me one yet because she wants me to pick out my own colors, and she included a list of colors she has left. Hubby didn’t tell me about it. He didn’t even show me his key chain. I had to hunt down the bike key just to see what it looks like, and she did a really good job.

I’m picking orange and purple for mine. I remember making those key chains when I was her age, so it brought back a lot of memories for me. I’m just glad she’s found herself a hobby. I give her beads and wire sometimes for Christmas or birthdays. I was hoping she would find learn to like crafts instead of sitting in front of the tv or on the PS2 all summer.

The Lazy Days Of Summer

It definitely feels like summer around here. It’s 92 right now, and it’s only going to get hotter. Throw that thick southern humidity in the mix, and you can see exactly why I’m being extremely lazy today. I had plans. I wanted to get some laundry done. My god we have way too much laundry for a 2 person household! I was going to hang my clothes on the line to cut down on the power bill, but I have to get them all out early enough to dry before the afternoon pop up storms start rolling in.

I was going to spend a good bit of time outside with the puppy. He loves being outside so much, but he just can’t stay out there for long with those bulldog breathing problems. I was going to take him out for awhile this morning, maybe try to get him in his kiddie pool so he can get used to the water. He runs from the hose, but we want to take him to the lake, so I’m hoping he’ll learn to love the kiddie pool.

Unfortunately I slept late ’til almost 1 because I stayed up all night working, then I got caught up in my book again. I finally finished it this morning around 5:30 and went to sleep. Otherwise I would still be asleep. Lately it all makes me feel like I’m a teenager again, staying up all night doing whatever, then sleeping the summer days away because I can.
