I’m a hardcore supporter of pet insurance. I have to admit when the idea first came about, I wondered if it was just another way to suck money from the general public by preying on something as dear to our hearts as our pets, but after tons of research, I agree pet insurance is something very valuable.

We gladly pay monthly for pet insurance for our Olde English Bulldogge puppy, and there are many reasons why we do so. First of all, we fell in love with breeds of dogs who tend to have health problems, and those health problems can get very expensive. Bulldogs face many issues ranging from simple problems like eye entropian and demodectic mange to larger expensive issues such as hip dysplasia, heart conditions, severe breathing problems, and bloat.

Pet insurance provides a solution for pet owners who can’t afford to shell out thousands of dollars for an emergency surgery. In the past, pet owners would have to put their injured pet to sleep because they couldn’t afford the treatment. Not only is it not fair to the poor pet, but it leaves the family with a great loss. With pet insurance, emergency surgeries and proper vet care is now affordable.

You might think your pet is completely healthy, but in reality 2 out of 3 household pets will require treatment for a significant health problem in their lifetime. No matter how you take care of your pet, there’s always a possibility of that animal getting hit by a car, getting into a chemical it shouldn’t, or having health problems due to natural hereditary problems.
