From Good To Bad

Today was a very interesting day. When I got up this morning I fully intended on spending the day with hubby, but I wanted to get some cleaning done. That was when I decided to put him to work going through his boxes of crap. I left my woot refresher running so I’d know when the next woot off item popped up, and I was able to grab a nice gaming mouse for $5.

After hubby got tired of sorting through crap I helped him out on the porch. He’s been dieing to get outside, so I thought he would enjoy relaxing on the porch swing for awhile. His feet still look pitiful, but at least he was able to get out.

I decided to let the puppy run around outside, too, but he didn’t get to stay out as long. Even though it was overcast all day, it was still just too hot for him. I had to tie a rope to his leash to give him room to run around on his own. He kept trying to chase cars when I let him run without it. I really want to get him one of those fence-less systems 0829071701.jpgso he can run around the whole yard.

He ran around for about 30 minutes, then I had to take him back inside even though he had a huge bowl of ice water on the porch. At least I got to snap a couple cute photos of him, but since I was using my camera phone all but one came out blurry.

We headed to my friend’s new house to help her put together some bunk beds for her son. I tried to convince hubby to stay home, but he really wanted to get out of the house. I loaded him up in the Blazer with his little backless desk chair, and it worked out great. He rolled around for a couple hours while I helped her put the beds together.

Unfortunately we got a phone call with some bad news while we were there. Hubby adopted a Yellow Lab/Pyrenees mix, Gus, when he was in high school, but when he moved out his parents asked that the dog stay with them. Unfortunately hubby’s mom came home this evening to find Gus in the yard howling in pain and unable to move. Hubby’s dad called to tell us this, and told hubby he thought Gus was dieing. Since hubby couldn’t rush over there to see him, it tore hubby up inside.

My mother in law rushed him to the emergency vet thinking he got hit by a car since he was puking up blood and had escaped his dog lot today, and we went home to wait on news. She called about 20 minutes ago to let us know that Gus hadn’t been hit by a car, but he has developed a massive tumor in his stomach. Unfortunately the vets said it was pretty much too late to do anything about it, so he had to be put to sleep. No one was able to notice that he probably hasn’t been eating much lately because their other dog has probably been eating the extra left over food. At least we know he’s in a better place now, but it’s amazing how a day can start off so nice and end with such sorrow.
