I know I’m a little behind. I should have done the Saturday Six on Saturday, but give me a break. Didn’t I just tell you that I’ve been super lazy all weekend? Ha! *Sticks out tongue!*
Anywho, I really liked some of the questions this week, so even though I’m late I decided to participate in the Saturday Six anyway. Have fun reading my answers! I know I’m boring most of the time but it’s 5am, and I have no plans to go to bed anytime soon. There’s no telling what you might learn!
1. How different is your speech pattern among your friends versus a stranger you’d meet on the street?
There’s a big difference. My speech is definitely more laid back with my friends. Around strangers I’m very cautious at what I say and how I say it.
2. How often do you get asked where you’re from based on your accent?
ALL THE FREAKIN’ TIME! I do some occasional work for a friend’s mid-west company that involves telephone conversations with customers sometimes, and it never fails. I ALWAYS get asked where I’m from. If I go on vacation, at least one person is going to ask me where I’m from. If you don’t already know it, I have a VERY strong southern accent. I’m not ashamed of it. I love my accent! In my college days I loved it even more because I got a lot of dates with the out of state boys because of my accent. HAHA! If you really want to hear how thick it is then you’ll just have to keep an eye out for the video drawing for my Bath & Body contest. You’ll get to see me and hear my southern twang!
3. What word or phrase said by newscasters is your biggest pet peeve?
It’s not actually something the newscasters say a lot, but I can’t stand listening to the television sports announcers during Clemson games. For that matter even the sports news guys do this a lot, too. They say “CLEM-ZON”. Every body in the friggin’ south knows there is no Z in Clemson! There are two proper ways to say Clemson. If you live anywhere else it’s “CLEM-SON’. If you’re from South Carolina it’s “CLEMP-SON”. Everybody knows we add an invisible P!
4. Take the quiz: How good at grammar are you?
| You Scored an A |
![]() You got 10/10 questions correct. It’s pretty obvious that you don’t make basic grammatical errors. If anything, you’re annoyed when people make simple mistakes on their blogs. As far as people with bad grammar go, you know they’re only human. And it’s humanity and its current condition that truly disturb you sometimes. |

5. How often do you look up a word in a dictionary, either online or print?
I don’t look up words constantly, but if I need to know how to spell something or the meaning of something I’ll look it up. I always look it up online because I have no clue where a print version of a dictionary is in this house.
6. How many books or guides on grammar do you currently own?
I’ve got a few. Most of them are left over from my college days, but I still use them from time to time.
