Wood Heat Vs Other Sources

When hubby and I moved into this house 4 years ago, I purposely forgot to tell him that we would only have wood heat. See, I grew up relying mostly on wood heat. My parents had a furnace in their home, but our home was small enough that we relied mostly on free heat from the wood stove to heat it. My parents weren’t going to spend more money than needed, and their wood stove worked great. I love wood heat. Not only is it virtually free if you don’t mind harvesting and chopping your own wood (only take what’s already dead please!), but I love the smell.

Hubby has been arguing for years now that we need to find some other form of heat. He loves the wood heat as well, but he’ll be the first to admit he’s lazy. More recently we’ve been discussing the option of installing gas heat. We could convert our fireplace to gas and use something like the ventless gas logs I would consider buying from the DESA Online Outlet Store.

I definitely noticed one other option that I’m more interested in. DESA also has some beautiful electric stoves that I’m definitely going to talk to hubby about. An electric stove would be perfect the corner of our bedroom, and they’re even cheap enough that I could install a couple throughout the house.
