I Hate Floppies
I’ve gotten to a point with my new pc where I need to make a floppy of the RAID drivers so I can install Windows. Well here’s my hang up. I don’t keep boxes of extra blank floppies laying around because I just don’t need them. I hardly ever have to make a floppy back up of anything, and most of the time everything these days comes with the drivers I need on a cd. That’s a problem right now because my motherboard comes with the proper drivers, but they’re on the cd, and I need them on a floppy for the Windows install. FREAKIN’ WINDOWS!
So I started pulling out all the floppies I have lieing around so I could make my disk. Most of them are so old they’re useless, so I’m going through them one at a time removing things that were long ago forgotten about and formatting disks to find one that works. I finally found one that isn’t so old and crappy that it will load. It’s a disk full of photos that I had forgotten about. These photos were taken when I was 17, and they are the last photos taken of my parents together right before they separated. Unfortunately half the photos on the disk are ruined and I can’t recover them. It’s a shame to lose something I completely forgot about. If I’d remembered them years ago I could have probably salvaged them.
Looking back at the photos I can salvage reminds me of how much of a total dork I was at that age. I’ll share a photo or two later if I get up the nerve.
Contacting Celebrities
I have to admit it wasn’t that long ago when I was a celebrity obsessed teeny bopper. I’d say about 10-15 years ago actually. When I would go to the grocery store with my mom I would beg for the latest issue of Bop or TigerBeat so I could tear out the posters of the latest hotties and plaster them to my wall. Yep, I was a huge Backstreet Boys fan, and now I sit back and laugh at photos taken in my bedroom with those posters everywhere. I even had them on my ceiling! If I could find any of those files on my comp I would definitely share them, but it looks like the only copies I have left are in my scrapbooks. I might just have to scan some of them one day.
My friends and I were always comparing the latest posters and dreaming about the day we would meet our celebrity hotties. We even wrote a few letters to the addresses listed in the magazines. Now I think back on how much of my allowance was wasted on buying all those mags. If I had known about sites like celebritycontacts.com I could have just looked up all those celebrity addresses online without having to run to the store to buy magazines! This site gives you the latest updates on the addresses to send your letters, scripts, birthday cards, and whatever you can imagine. Unlike those magazines I used to buy, these people have been dealing with the celebrity business for over 20 years, and they’ve found the addresses that will best direct your letters straight to the celebrity of your choice through the proper channels. Hmm….should I start writing to Channing Tatum now? Dang, there I go having a teeny bopper moment again!
Did You Say I’m Right?
Who builds the better fire? I do!
Hubby and I have been arguing for years over who builds the better fire in our wood stove. He seems to think that being the man of the house and a former boy scout he knows exactly how to build the perfect fire. I seem to think if that’s the case why do his fires always die out in a matter of minutes?
We both have our own methods, and I think I have finally proven mine is better. A few minutes ago I asked hubby to bring in some wood from the porch so we can build a fire later. It’s still 60 out right now, but it’s expected to drop tonight. Hubby said I’ll make a deal with you. I’ll bring in the wood if you build the fire because I just can’t build those small fires that burn slow all night like you can.
Wait a minute…did I just hear him say my way is better?
Did hubby just admit that I’m right? Hell hath frozen over people!
iPhone & iPod Accessories
Were you one of those people who spent hours in line to pick up an iPhone the day it was released? Do you have an iPod that you take with you everywhere? The iPhone and iPod craze over the past year has dramatically upped the value of the products, but have you realized how easily they break or scratch? One of my best friend’s iPod broke a few months back, so he purchased a new one last month. Even after only a month’s use this thing is scratched like crazy and looks like he’s had it forever.
Personally I didn’t buy into the iPhone and iPod craze. When I purchased mp3 players I stuck to something cheap that could easily be replaced if it got damaged, but a lot of people prefer to have the more expensive products. If you’re one of those people who chose the iPod or iPhone there are some accessories out there that can help you protect your investment from damage. Pdostore.com has a ton of iphone accessories and ipod accessories to keep your gadget looking shiny and new like the day you bought it. There are skins, body shields, cases, and cleaning kits just to name a few.
