ProMeris Flea & Tick Treatment Treats Mange, Too!

A couple months back we decided to switch Bubba’s flea medicine from Frontline to ProMeris.  Frontline has been on the market for 11 years now, and that has given fleas plenty of time to build an immunity.  Our vet said it’s a new replacement for Frontline that’s only available through vets.  That means you can’t pick it up at any online retailer or pet store even with a vet prescription.  It’s cheaper than Frontline and new to the market, so we wanted to see how it worked.  There are two active ingredients in this new flea & tick treatment.  Metaflumizone is used to treat fleas while Amitraz treats ticks.

The results were amazing.  Being an Olde English Bulldogge, Bubba is prone to a lot of skin infections.  He’s dealt with demodectic mange and yeast infections for 14 months of his 16 month life time.  As soon as we put him on the ProMeris his skin cleared up completely. (minus this new bacterial infection caused by a scratch from another animal)

We were able to take him off the Ivermectin doses he was receiving 2-3 times a week, and we haven’t had any problems with mange or year infections since changing the meds.  He’s also got a severe flea allergy.  Normally around other dogs he picks up flea dander that can cause him to run a high fever and break out all over.  This has only happened once in the last 2 months opposed to almost every other week as before.

When Bubba went to the vet this morning we found out some interesting news.  Dr. Ross informed us that results were just released from a new study proving that ProMeris treats more than just fleas and ticks.  97% of dogs tested with either sarcoptic or demodectic mange saw less outbreaks and overall improvement in the health of their skin.  The results of this study have proven what hubby and I were already thinking.  The ProMeris has drastically improved Bubba’s skin condition.  Our vet visits have been cut in half.

This gives dog owners a new option.  Instead of having to treat severe mange of either type with nasty chemical dips, they can now use ProMeris to treat fleas, ticks, and mange at the same time!

Long Day Ahead

Man I’ve got so much to do tonight.  We’re having our New Year’s Eve party at Alli’s house, and the Clemson game will be on tonight.  I’m NOT missing the Clemson vs Auburn game so I’ve got to rearrange my schedule.  I guess I’ll watch the first half at home, then I’ll head to Alli’s during half time.  I’ll camp out in her son’s room until the game’s over, then I can enjoy the party.

We’ve still got to go buy our fireworks, hit up the grocery store, find those stupid party hats she wants, and I’m sure there’s a ton of other stuff I’m forgetting.   This is why I hate planning parties.  It doesn’t matter how well organized we are, I always end up waiting until the last minute to get my stuff done.

I lost a good portion of my day taking Bubba to the vet.  I had to get him worked in this afternoon because he’s had an eye infection that came back.  I woke up this morning to find his eye all pussy and nasty.  He’s got another bacteria infection, and we’re trying a new medicine this time.  Hopefully this one will help.  At least this is a small infection most likely caused by a scratch he got from another dog.

Hair Update

Well I went to the salon today, and my normal girl was able to do a lot with my hair. It isn’t exactly what I want, but it still looks good. Hubby loves it, so that’s definitely a plus. She was able to feather out some of the choppy layers to blend them in, but she had to go even shorter on some of the layers to make them lay in a normal blend. She also had to go a little shorter in the back to keep me from having a mullet like cut lol.

I actually like the new cut a lot more than I thought I would. She showed me how to easily give it a 10 minute style without having to use my straightening iron. That’s a big plus, and the way she cut it allows it to work with my natural wave. I’ve actually got the option for two looks now. The first look is my normal when it’s short straighten it flat with some nice layers to give it a little definition.

The second look is how she styled it today. Blow it out with the biggest round brush I can find taking advantage of my over abundance of body and waves to create a nice shape around my face. It’s definitely not a cut I would have chosen for myself, but it’s something I can live with and work with until it’s long enough to grow it out a little longer again. I definitely like how it took very little effort to accomplish it, and it makes my hair curl in naturally without having to go the extra step with a curling iron.

I was surprised at how much of the thickness and heaviness she was able to remove cutting it like this though. You never know. It might grow on me over the next couple of weeks.

Blazer Update

Now that the bad news is out of the way it’s time for some Good News!  My Blazer is going in the shop Wednesday!  They’ve got everything except the left rear quarter panel, and that is supposed to be in by the beginning of next week.  They had to find one from a junk yard somewhere out west, but they should have everything else put on and ready for paint by the time it arrives.  I’m crossing my fingers I have the Blazer back by the end of next week.  I’m so tired of having to borrow my dad’s Tracker.

Personal Paintings

Awhile back I got a custom print of one of our wedding photos that is just gorgeous, but I’ve always wanted a custom painting of hubby and I. I recently discovered it’s a lot easier and more affordable to get a custom painting that I ever thought. Paintyourlife.com has a ton of different styles and packages that I’ve decided would really work for me, and I’m thinking about ordering two paintings from them. First of all I would love to order a painting of hubby and I that’s an updated picture. The current canvas I have is a wedding photo. I would also like to order a painting of my sister and I to give my mom as a birthday gift since it’s coming up soon.

I love how Paint Your Life offers different types of mediums like oil paintings, charcoal drawings, watercolor portraits, pencil drawings, acrylic paintings, pastel, watercolor, and mosaic. The quality of the paintings is absolutely beautiful, too. Hubby really likes the charcoal motorcycle picture on the site, and it’s inspired him to want to buy a painting of his bike. After all we have some gorgeous shots of our trips to Deal’s Gap for him to choose from.
