I’m so glad I’ll be ordering my dsl this weekend. The cable is out again, and even though I can blog from my phone it’s not something I want to do. My Sandisk Sansas came in today, and theyre much bigger than I expected. I’ll post a review as soon as I have internet again.

Guess What I’m Doing!

I’m filling out an extremely lengthy and detailed pet adoption application right now. I gave hubby the run down on Amigo this morning, and he asked me what I was waiting for. He said fill that form out now so we can hopefully give that little guy a home! Wish us luck.

First of all we have to find out if he’s still in foster care and in need of a home. His profile was last updated January 22nd. Then we have wait up to 2 weeks for our application to be processed. Then before we can be approved for adoption the rescue has to send someone to our home to inspect it to make sure it’s safe for pets. They’ll also check the temperament of our other pets to make sure it’s safe to place another pet in our home.

Then they have to speak with at least 3 references and our vet to determine our abilities to care for the breed and the health problems. They might possibly have to speak to my grandparent’s to determine if we’re allowed to have another pet in this house. I”m not sure exactly how that’s going to go because we don’t fall under the own category, but we don’t fall under the rent category either. We’re more like caretakers. If they determine it to fall into the renter category then by law they have to contact the landlord for permission to place the animal there.

After all of that we will either be approved or denied, and if Amigo is still available we’ll arrange to pick him up or transport him at least half way. On top of all of the other stuff, if he is placed with us we will have to have a follow up visit with someone from the rescue after he’s been with us for a couple weeks.

It’s a long process, but I feel like it’s worth it to give the little guy a proper home.

Duh!

As soon as I wrote my last post I thought to myself “Hey self. You know exactly why your Woot order’s take so long to arrive. They use smartpost.”

And it all made sense!

That’s also one reason why I don’t mind waiting a little longer for my package to arrive. If you don’t know what Smartpost is, it’s FedEx’s way of trying to cut costs to the consumer. You can read about it here. Basically your FedEx package is delivered to USPS, and then your mail carrier drops it off just like your normal mail.

After all of Christine’s troubles with FedEx I really don’t mind letting them turn my packages over to USPS. I’d like to point one thing out to FedEx though. On the smartpost site they say that it minimizes shipping times. It happens to be the opposite with me. Anything that ships to me smartpost seems to take at least a few days if not a week longer. Oh well at least it’s cheaper and my packages do arrive safe and sound.

The Good News:

I’m not on the verge of crying anymore. I don’t know what that was all about, but I watched a movie, and the feeling went away.

The Bad News:
My all natural laundry soap still hasn’t arrived, and I’m out of clean clothes that haven’t been washed in regular detergent. I had to wash my bath robe with Purex earlier tonight because Alley puked on it. I pulled it out of the dryer fresh and warm, took a shower, and here I am 10 minutes later breaking out and itching all over again. I’m going to pick up a small bottle of All Free & Clear tomorrow to have on hand as my backup, and I shot an email to my laundry soap lady to see why it hasn’t arrived yet.

I’ve ordered from her plenty of times before, and yes it does normally take a couple weeks to get here, but this is going on 3 weeks. I know there’s no way she wouldn’t send it, so I shot her an email to make sure it didn’t get lost in shipping. It could very easily be delayed.

For some reason my Woot order has been delayed. It’s been stuck in Charlotte since the 25th and is marked for delivery on Feb. 2nd. Why I don’t know, but I’ve learned to live by the old Woot forums rule. Buy it, forget about it, and by the time it arrives it’s like opening a present because you can’t remember what you ordered! I actually HAD forgotten about my Woot order until hubby asked me about it today. I picked up 2 512mb Sandisk Sansa MP3 players for $20. Those are totally going in my gift drawer as I’m sure they’ll each make nice birthday presents for someone. If I like the controls on these better than my old school Sandisk I might just use one for myself and pass my old one along to someone else…

or give it away as a blog contest. We’ll just have to see. I don’t know if anyone would be interested in winning it because it’s Sandisk MX1 and it’s only a 512mb although that’s plenty big enough for me. You can check out the review I wrote about it here. Mine is the blue one. Hubby has the red one which is a 256mb, but he loves it.
