lunar_eclipse_as_seen_from_earth.jpgI’m trying to get done the things I need to so when 10pm rolls around hopefully I can take a nice long hour break. I’m waiting for the total lunar eclipse tonight, and I can’t wait!

It’s fairly cloudy here, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to view it, and possibly take a few photos. I pulled out my mini telescope since Saturn is supposed to be in plain view on one side of the moon with the star Regulus on the other side, but Saturn is supposed to be close enough to us that if you have a telescope you might even be able to see Saturn’s rings.

I’m hoping one day I’ll be able to afford to buy a nice telescope and camera setup because I love watching the skies. Tonight would be the perfect night to have something like that.

If you live in North America the total lunar eclipse will be visible to you if the weather’s in your favor. The East Coast should be able to see the full hour long show beginning at 10pm, but the West Coast can expect to miss the beginning of the eclipse because it starts at 7pm for you guys before the moon has fully risen.

If you’ve got a chance to take a few minutes to enjoy the eclipse please do. This will be the last total lunar eclipse until December 20, 2010.

I let Peanut stay awake to watch this. It was so exciting to see this event through her eyes. She was jumping up and down and having so much fun!

It was cloudy here, but the clouds were moving quickly so we were able to view it pretty well. I hope you enjoyed it too.

I wanted to have a look at it but I couldn’t see anything even though it was suppose to be a cloudless night. I did however see a bright star.

I had 9-ball last night, and a whole bunch of us ran outside to watch it. It was GORGEOUS!

It was beautiful. I tried to take photos, but my little camera just couldn’t pick up the coloring. It came out as big white blobs. The sky was perfectly clear, and the moon was perfectly centered in front of our porch, so I sat out there wrapped in a blanket watching it.
