The New Tent
I know awhile back I mentioned somewhere (yes I lose track between blogs sometimes) that hubby and I got a new tent. Well it’s not brand new. It’s a tent that hubby’s aunt and uncle have never used, so they passed it on to us.
All they told us was that they’d never used it, and it was a 1 room tent with a canopy. I already knew it was going to be a pretty decent sized tent because it came in two bags. One holds the tent itself, and the other holds the stakes, poles, etc.
We’ve planned to put it up to let it air out in the back yard, but normally by the time we think about setting it up it’s already dark. Tonight we decided on a whim to set it up anyway. It was still daylight when we started, but we had a little trouble.
Actually, hubby had a little trouble. As soon as he pulled the poles out of the bag I told him exactly how it would need to be setup, what poles would go where, etc. Being the man he is, he told me I didn’t know what I was talking about, so I let him wrestle with it for about and hour. By the time darkness settled in, he was getting frustrated. He said “I just need a picture. Go see what you can find online.”
I headed inside while he hooked up a halogen lamp, and I spent about 10 minutes searching for basically nothing. I can’t find this tent online anywhere. It’s got a camel patch on the front, so I figured it was one of the Camel cigarette rewards things, but there’s no telling how old it is, and various searches for terms including camel, cigarettes, and tents didn’t return any results.
Hubby came running back inside and told me he figured it out, so I headed back outside with my camera. I couldn’t help but laugh at what I saw. Yep, he figured it out alright. He set it up EXACTLY like I told him to. Stubborn ass man. He still wouldn’t admit that if he’d done it the way I told him the first time we would have had it up way before dark.
I was able to snap a few pictures thanks to the halogen lamp, but I’ll take some more tomorrow. I’ll be leaving it up in the side yard for at least a couple days to air out before we take it camping hopefully in a couple weeks when we make our trip to Deal’s Gap for St. Patty’s Day. I’m so happy with the size and how nice it is…at least for us. I’m already looking for a card table that I can stick in the screened in porch to use as a desk. Yes I’ll work from the road.
