I’m going shopping later this afternoon to look for my new printer, and I’ve decided I’m either buying (as much as I hate them) a 3 in 1, or I’ll be picking up a new scanner as well. I seriously miss my scanner, and the present my Grandma dropped off for me just a few minutes ago reminds me of how much I need it.
She brought me old photos. These aren’t just any old photos. These are of my great great grandparents. My great aunt passed away a few weeks ago, and when her daughter’s cleaned up her attic they found these three photos I’m about to show you as well as a ton of others. I love stuff like this.
This is my history. This is where I came from.
She went to a Walmart yesterday and made copies of the photos with one of those photo machines, but if I had another scanner I could make my own copies. She agreed to let me scan all the photos once I get my scanner. There were school photos of my Grandma and all her brothers and sisters from the 30s and 40s, but Walmart refused to let her make copies of them because they were school photos! I understand the policy for people wanting to make copies of proof pictures, but these images are 60 and 70 years old! I’ll scan them and make my own copies thank you.
Anyway here are the images that have me in awe. It’s so amazing to be able to hold a piece of history like this, and these are photos I will cherish.

My Great Great Grandparents:
This photo wasn’t labeled, so we’re still trying to figure out who it was. It was in a box a box labeled uncles and aunts though, so it would have to be one of my great great uncles…just not sure which one.
I wish this one wasn’t so damaged. In the actual photo you can see the faces of those on the horses, but in the copies they really aren’t visible. I don’t remember who my Grandma said this was either. I’ll have to sit down with her again to label them.

Personally, I think it’s BS that WalMart or any of the places that have those Kodak booths have the right to look at the original OR the copies of the photos. You can tell very well yourself if they came out all right.
Beside the fact that I STILL find it odd and very wrong that pictures that I PAID to have taken of ME can be copyrighted to someone else? Excuse me, I paid for those photos to be taken, and they’re of me, so shouldn’t I have the right to make copies however I please? After all, in some cases, the photographer has gone out of business and I’m stuck unable to make copies of pictures.

Those are awesome photos. I love seeing old ones like that. I have recently received some of my dad’s grandparents. It is so cool. I am so glad that someone saved them. They didn’t take very many pictures back then.
