Shut Up Already!

Good god my aunt’s dog, Daisy, is driving me insane right now.  I feel bad for her because she’s a really old dog.  Seriously, I don’t even know how old she is because I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t around, and I’m friggin’ 26.  We got one of her puppies when we were kids, and we had 2 more generations of dogs from that puppy.  I swear she’s immortal.

Poor thing can’t really see or hear well anymore though, but she has her ways of figuring things out.  I don’t know how many times I’ve told my aunt she needs to keep her in the fence because I see her laying in the middle of the road sunning.  My aunt always reminds me Daisy always lays in the road, and she just knows to move because a car is headed her way.

That’s exactly how it works, too.  She’ll lay out there all day, but if you see her head to the driveway you know a car is nearby.  Sure enough within about 30 seconds a car will come by and Daisy will head back out to sun in the road.  Maybe that’s the sixth sense I hear so much about, but honestly I think she can feel the vibrations or something.

Anywho, that’s not where I was going with this post.  The more Daisy’s hearing and eye sight goes, the more she barks at night.   It started out a couple years ago with her barking a couple hours each night after dark.  Then it became an all night thing a couple nights a week.  Here lately she’s barked constantly all night long waking me up every little bit (on the nights I actually sleep).  Normally it doesn’t bother me as much because she stays on her pillow on my aunt’s porch, but the past couple of nights she’s parked herself on my front porch…right outside my office window.

Tonight it’s a nice night out, so when she started barking I opened the window.  That calmed her down for a little while, but then she started up the barking again.  It’s been nonstop for the past couple of hours.  Even worse, being that close to the house, Bubba wants to know what’s going on, so he’s been barking and growling like crazy the past couple of hours, too.

I don’t see how Hubby’s sleeping through it, but then again Hubby can sleep through just about anything.  I really wish I could do something for the poor girl though.
