Catching Up On Printing

How’s everyone doing today?  I’m here as usual, but I’m just getting a very slow start to the online portion of my day.  I’ve spent all morning doing housework, sorting through more clothes I want to take to Goodwill, and then I ended up going through my business records.

I’ve got a folder on my pc full of receipts that need printing, but I’ve avoided it over the last couple months because I didn’t want to deal with the evil printer.  I figure now that I’ve got a new all-in-one it’s time to make sure my business records are in order.  I love being able to do everything on the computer these days, but I’m one of those people who prefers to also have the tried and true hard copy just in case anything happens.  *knock on wood*

I was going to redo my budget this afternoon, but my Grandma called wanting to know if I’ll do something for her.  She’s got boxes and boxes of photos she wants to make copies of.  She tried taking them to a few different stores, but no one will make copies of them because they fall into the school photos category.

What’s ridiculous is the fact that these are all photos of my Grandma and her brothers and sisters when they were school age.  Considering my youngest great aunt is 58, that tells you how old these photos are.  I completely understand the rules against copying school photos that go back as far as when I was a child because you can easily contact the photographer’s studio and I’m sure purchase additional copies.  I think not allowing my Grandma to make a copy of a photo of herself from 60 years ago just because it’s a “school pose” is insane.

I promised my Grandma I’d walk over in a bit to help her go through the boxes of photos.  It’s supposed to get pretty stormy here in a bit anyway, so it’ll give me something to do.  I’m one of those people who unplugs everything when it starts to storm.  I’ve lost too many motherboards to power surges, and this house has been struck by lightning 3 times.  I don’t chance it!

Anyway I’ll probably be around later this evening after the storms pass.  I know it’ll probably get pretty boring sitting here copying all those photos, so I bet I’ll be snooping around blogs and Twitter as usual.

Oh, they're terrible about photo copying. I can't even get copies of my senior pics, and it's been proven that the photographer who took them is out of business so I can't get them from there. If the photo looks in any way professionally taken, they won't let you copy it. Heck I have a coworker who took a picture of her kids that the people at Wally World here actually thought it was professionally taken and wouldn't let her copy it! Why bother having the machines to allow us to copy our photos if they're going to have a fit over it in the first place?

That's exactly why I went ahead and got an all-in-one. I used to be anti all-in-ones because if one part of it majorly screws up it can pretty much kill it all, but I gave in this time.

My scanner died a few months back, and I was going crazy without it. I haven't had film developed or photos professionally printed in years. It's just too easy to do it at home, and these days it's pretty inexpensive as well, esp if you buy photo paper in bulk like I do.
