Ah The Lazy Days Of Summer

Filled Under: Personal

Today is definitely just that. After stuffing myself on steak kabobs and shrimp kabobs yesterday I’m so stuff I haven’t even thought about eating today. I feel like I ate 10 lbs worth of food myself, and it was well worth it.

I get to do it all over again tomorrow with my family and their Labor Day cookout, but Hubby won’t be joining us because he has to work. I’ll fix him a plate, but I know it’s not the same. Because of that I promised I’d try to cook us our own little Labor Day meal tonight, but right now I don’t think either one of us care too much about eating. I might have to wait until later in the week.

Right now I want to curl up on the couch with the book I’ve been reading, Play Dirty by Sandra Brown. I’ve been dying to finish it, but I just haven’t had the time. Now seems as good as ever.

Not Very Happy Tonight

I’m so disappointed tonight.  I wasn’t exactly expecting Clemson to win tonight, but I sure as hell thought we’d play a lot better than we did.  In fact, I think this is one of the worst Clemson games I’ve ever watched.  What have these boys been doing because it sure as hell doesn’t look like they’ve been practicing?  Anywho, I’m mentally drained from the let down and all the screaming at the tv.

Tomorrow I have to be up bright and early.  Our friend wasn’t able to come over yesterday to check for termites, so we rescheduled for tomorrow.  He’s going to crawl the house in the morning before it has a chance to get too hot out.

He did walk around the outside of the house today, and he said he didn’t spot any of the normal signs you’d see.  He also said the tree stump in the yard was infested with termites at one time like I suspected, but the damage to the stump is at least a year old.  That could be good or bad.

Either way he’s going to check tomorrow, and then we’ll begin treatment asap if that’s the case.  If we don’t have them he’s going to put up a termite barrier tomorrow to prevent us from getting any.  I decided I’m not going to tell my Grandparent’s about it yet.  Either way I’m going to pay for it.  They’ve got enough on their plate with my Grandma’s health issues, and they don’t need to have one more thing to worry about.  I’ll tell them what they need to know when they need to know it.  Taking care of this is the least I can do knowing I live here rent free.  They’ve been very generous to us, and it’s my time to repay them in any way I can.

Not Termites!

Just great.  We might have termites.  Yesterday I was walking through my office, and I noticed one spot of the floor felt spongy.  My first thought was please no, please don’t let it be termites.

I walked outside to check the stump that’s in the front yard, and yep it looks like there have been termites there.  I didn’t see any live ones, but with all this rain I don’t know if they’d pick up and move or not.

I called Hubby’s bff who happens to be one very awesome exterminator, and he’s coming to crawl the house this afternoon.  I started freaking out thinking the worst.  I said please don’t put a tent over my house and kick me out!  I have nowhere to go!  He said no no, we treat with new chemicals now that are safer.  They’re mostly organic, and they’re completely safe for you and the pets.  Worst case scenario would cost you about $800, but we’ll see how it goes.

Then he told us he’s wanting a deck built on the back of his new house, so depending on how bad the situation is he’ll probably trade out work with Hubby.  He gets a new deck, we get rid of the termites.

Cross your fingers!  I’m so anxious for him to get here.  I hope if he does find damage that he crawls back out to tell me it’s previous damage and nothing’s alive.

Hot & Humid

Our power was in and out so much last night I finally gave up on blogging all together.  I’ll be so glad when fall gets here.  It was raining like crazy last night, and the humidity level was so high I thought I was going to sweat myself into nothing.  I had all the windows open, but there wasn’t a bit of breeze coming through here.

At 9pm I decided I was going to call my dad to tell him I was going to the pasture to get his generator.  Go figure, power came back on as I was dialing his number.  Doesn’t it always work like that?

We did lose power again, but by that time I just gave up and went to bed.  Somethings that’s all you can do.
