By the time I headed out to get gas today it was utter chaos. I could picture it happening if we lived in the path of the hurricane, but we don’t. We’re no where near it, yet people are freaking out like crazy here over gas.

As we were leaving the house I got a text message telling me not to try for gas in our town because none of the gas stations had regular unleaded (87), and a lot of them were running out of 89 octane. We were headed to Hubby’s parent’s house, so we got gas in the little town of Six Mile. They have two gas stations, a little bank, and well that’s it. It’s that small. We pulled into the gas station to get gas, and we were lucky it was still 3.49 there. We were even luckier they still had regular unleaded. We were only allowed to get 10 gallons, and they sold out of regular before we left the store. The owner said he thinks they’ll be lucky if they don’t run out of 89 octane before tomorrow.

It’s a total freak out. The only reason we planned on filling up was because I knew this would happen. Hubby has to get to work this weekend somehow, so we’d need the gas and we were on E. People were already freaking out over gas prices going up last night, so I knew as soon as those signs started changing it’d be trouble. We stopped on our way home to pickup a 2 liter at the gas station near our house, and they had someone standing outside watching the pumps writing down tag numbers because they’ve already had 4 drive offs today. Ridiculous!
