Rantin’ About The Gas

Filled Under: Personal, Rant

Whew! I spent all day working my butt off, and I’ve just about knocked out everything on my catch up list. Next will be tackling all the laundry and other house work that’s piling up. If Hubby doesn’t get to work a few days this week I’ll put him to helping me with that.

He’s not sure if he’ll get to work tomorrow or Tuesday or even later in the week. The gas shortage has things all out of whack. Western NC has been out for a couple weeks, so his entire crew has been driving 45 minutes down the mountain to fill up down here.

Now, we’re one of 2 Upstate counties who are completely out of gas. Most of the other counties are running really low with only a few stations here and there who have gas. The last station with any in our county expects to run out within the hour because there’s a line of cars down main street. Everyone’s suffering, and I think it’s total bs, but it’s not like we can actually do anything about it. At least the gas shortage is causing a lot of people to look at alternative modes of transportation.

Having the bike wouldn’t help any right now because all stations ran out of premium first, and you can’t put 87 octane in a bike unless you want to royally screw it up.  I saw a group of people walking up our road today to the gas station, which is another 2 miles past my house. At least they can save money on weight loss pills now.

A lot of schools and businesses in Western NC have had days off last week due to the gas shortage, and now Hubby’s boss is on the phone with him trying to figure out what they’re going to do. Hubby and the guys that car pool with him could get to work over the next couple of days, but if we don’t get anymore gas anytime soon the Blazer will be empty by Tuesday.

I talked to the owner of the gas station just up the road, and he said his supplier told him today that it’ll be another 2 weeks at least before he gets any gas for any of his stations. Thank god I work at home. Hubby’s gas usage equals about what it would take if we were both driving to work locally everyday.
