I’ll Do It Later

Filled Under: Baby, Personal

I always have a huge list of things that I need to remember to do, and as always most of them don’t get done.  Today’s list included putting away the Christmas decorations, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, doing laundry, putting the Netflix movies in the mail, and requesting a term life insurance quote.

How many of those things do you think I’ve actually gotten done?  I did get 1 load of laundry in the washer (hopefully I’ll get them in the dryer before I forget), I got the dishwasher loaded, and I swept the bathroom.  I got my nativity set wrapped in paper to put away right before Elliana decided she was hungry again, but everything else will get transferred to tomorrow’s list.

I’ve learned to basically say screw it because I can do it later when I don’t get things done.  Hubby and I had an argument over that.  He had it in his head that if I have time to get online then I have time to do all the housework, too.  Boy is he wrong!

I had to explain to him that as a mother who breastfeeds I’m confined to the couch or rocker for a good bit of the day, and that’s the time I use to get online (thanks to my Netbook), do my online work, or read a book.  Believe me if I could master latching her own and going about my business I’d free up over half my day!

I do have to thank my Dad for getting Elliana her swing for Christmas.  He got her the Days of Hunny swing that matches her pack n play, and that swing is the best thing we’ve ever received.  She loves it, and now she’ll actually let me put her down for a bit to do things I need to get done.  As long as she’s swinging and watching Eeyore on the mobile she’s good.  She cries when Eeyore swings out of view and Pooh becomes visible.  Then when Pooh goes away and she sees Piglet and Eeyore she’s fine again.  Maybe she just doesn’t like Pooh lol!

The End Of The Holidays

Filled Under: Family & Friends

Did everyone enjoy their holiday festivities?  With the holidays coming to an end I realized I haven’t even checked in with most of the online world.  I know it’s been a whole 12 days since I posted, but I definitely needed to step away from the blog with everything we’ve had going on.  Holidays are always hectic, but with the baby they were even more hectic this year.

I totally wasn’t prepared for Christmas this year, and I feel like it’s flown by without me.  It came, it went, and most of my Christmas decorations are sitting in the closet wondering why they were never touched.  I felt sort of like a zombie moving through the holidays without really knowing what was going on, and now I’m wondering where it went.

I think the only thing I really remember is that tooth I broke eating at my Grandma’s Christmas evening. I was eating leftover turkey, and I chomped down on a little piece of bone that wound up on my place. I don’t have time to go to the dentist until after the holidays, but I keep seeing ads for dentists everywhere…on billboards I drive by, in my email. I even saw something about a Plano dentist this morning that reminded me I seriously need to make sure I get my tooth fixed as soon as the holiday festivities are over with. I don’t even want to think about how much that’s going to cost.

Anywho back to the holiday stuff. We started our holiday festivities on the 23rd, and we went nonstop through Sunday.  I swear we spent more time in the car taking the baby from place to place so everyone could have a separate Christmas with her then we did actually eating and exchanging presents.

Then again most of the presents I ordered still haven’t arrived yet.  I ordered a ton of gifts from one company, and things ended up getting delayed.  My family will get all their presents from me next week sometime when they finally arrive.

Anywho I have to run.  The baby is awake and cranky again after getting her shots yesterday.  That’s something we’ll talk about later.

DenTek Complete Clean Floss

Filled Under: Photo & Video, Reviews

A few weeks ago I reviewed a product for you by DenTek, and I’ve been lucky enough to receive another product by Dentek to review.  This time I got to try the product instead of turning it over to Hubby, and I’m happy to say I like it a lot.  I got to try the DenTek complete clean floss.  I was a great candidate for trying this product because this floss claimed to be thin even though it’s two strands twisted together.  I have really tight teeth, and I have a very hard time flossing, so this stuff was perfect for me to try.   I was asked to make a video review, so you’ll find that below.

If you are  unable to view the video I’ll give you a quick rundown.  The floss really is thin.  In fact Hubby’s regular floss toothpick things are twice as thick as this floss is, and I had no problem getting it between my teeth.  I’ve been flossing every night for two weeks, and that’s a big deal for me!  I haven’t been able to floss in years!

Our Little Morning Fiasco

Filled Under: Baby

Most of today has been pretty quiet, and after a rather fussy night last night I’m appreciating the quiet.  Right now Elliana is bright eyed in her bouncy seat watching tv, and no tears have been shed in the last couple of hours.  Luckily most of the tears shed today weren’t even hers.

This morning I finally broke down and pulled out the baby nail clippers to take care of those long finger nails.  Until now I’ve been biting them off because I was afraid of the nail clippers, but they’re getting too thick to bite.  I decided my only option was to attempt to do my best with the little nail clippers since I don’t have a pair of the nail scissors.or I could let her continue to scratch herself.  I decided option one was better.

I started gently clipping while she was napping, and all was well.  I was on the last nail and had just congratulated myself on doing such a good job of clipping them without waking her when she decided to wake up.  She jerked her hand up right as I clipped the nail, and the clipper nicked the tip of her finger.

The sight of blood had me flipping out even though she didn’t shed a tear.  In fact it didn’t phase her at all.  She acted like nothing happened at all even though I was busy wiping little drops of blood off her finger and her shirt.  Of course I broke down in tears as I worked to stop the bleeding.  As soon as I had the bleeding stopped I had to call Hubby and cry to him.  I felt horrible because not only does she now have a little cut on her finger, but it was bad enough to bleed for a good 2 minutes, and I caused it.  I think that’s the worst part of it.  I hurt my little girl.

I know it’s not something I did purposely, but it still made me feel absolutely horrible.  Hubby pointed out that she didn’t even whimper, so it must be ok, and then he reminded me that there will be many more times in the future when I’m dealing with my little girl getting hurt.  He mentioned that she’ll be getting her 2 month shots on the 28th.  After today’s fiasco I decided I don’t think I’ll be in the room with her for the shots.  If I flipped out when she wasn’t crying over a little wound I don’t think I can handle being there when she’s getting poked and screaming.  I know I’ll have to get used to it, but I think I’ll let Hubby handle it this time.
