Tonight Hubby and I were laying on the couch watching a movie when he paused the movie to ask me a question.  He asked if I remembered a Nestle Quick (before it became Nesquik) character named “Mr. Q” or “Mr. Quik”.  In my best you paused a great movie for this tone I said no.

After the movie was over he asked me about the character again.  I repeated that I couldn’t remember any Nestle character by that name, and I asked why he wanted to know.  He said while we were watching the movie he had this very vivid flashback type of image pop into his head.

He remembered sitting at his Grandma’s table reading a book she got him through one of those side of the box type promotions Nestle ran when he was about 6 or 7 years old (late 80s).  It was a personalized story book, his name was inserted into the story with a Mr. Q or Mr. Quik, he couldn’t remember exactly.  He described a cartoon drawing of a white character person with a little squiggle of hair on top.

It was driving him nuts, so I sat down and tried to look for vintage Nestle stuff that might lead me to a similar character.  After almost 2 hours of searching, I’m stumped.  I can’t find anything even remotely similar to what he’s talking about.

Now he’s driving me crazy because I can’t find anything, and it’s got him so stumped he can’t sleep thinking about it.  Being me, now I’m too curious to stop looking.  Once I start searching for something I have to find it.  I’m going to go through his 2 boxes of children’s books in the closet to see if it happens to be in those boxes, but he says he doesn’t think it’s one of the books he kept.  Anybody have any idea what he might be talking about?

The only Mr. Q I remember from my childhood was Mr. Q of The Letter People.
