Working On The Patio

Filled Under: Everything Else

Man am I loving this weather! Too bad it’s going to get cold again at the end of the week, but this 80 degree stuff is heaven. I rushed to get my housework done this morning so I could spend some time outside today cleaning up around the yard and just enjoying the sunshine.

I just finished scrubbing the back patio, but I had to come inside for a lunch break. I would love to be able to take lunch out on the patio, but I’ve still got so much more to do. I really want to get a new patio set since the furniture we have out there right now is old school 70s metal chairs and a metal swing.

They’ll look nice once I restore them, but right now the black metal is covered by 10 different layers of 10 different colors of baby diaper browns. The paint is chipping off horribly, so you can see spots of all the different colors, and that is exactly why they’re on the back patio where no one can see them!

I really do want to restore them, but I want to use them on our side porch eventually which is exactly why I want a new patio set for the back patio. We don’t have a table back there anymore, and it’s a shame because we used to eat dinner out there all the time. I tried to convince Hubby to buy a patio set last year, but we just never got around to it. This year I’m staying on task, and hopefully I’ll have one bought before I even remember to mention it to him haha.

I’ve already picked out a few sets I like, but I have to decide if I want wood, cast iron, or all weather wicker. I’m not a big fan of wicker, but I did find a set I like. I’m leaning more towards the cast iron because I love cast iron, but I have found a few wood sets I like as well. Hubby could totally build me a wood set, but getting him to do it is the problem. Of course the carpenter doesn’t like to bring his work home with him.

I really love this Mainstays Sand Dune 5 piece folding set from Walmart, but I’d rather buy from anywhere but Walmart and the chairs only hold up to 200lbs so that’s out. Hubby would totally snap the chairs in half. Oh well I’ll keep looking. I know I spied some gorgeous sets at Lowes a couple weeks ago, and with this weather I’m sure they’ll be putting more on display.
