Mentioning our possible trip to the zoo has got me thinking about how I’d like to convince Hubby to purchase a Friends of the Zoo membership package next year. Like I mentioned previously the Greenville Zoo is our small local zoo (compared to going to Zoo Atlanta or Riverbank Zoo since it’s only 45 minutes away), and it would be a great place to take the munchkin throughout the year.
Plus I’m imagining how great it would be to walk around the zoo pushing the stroller. I’m just imagining the baby weight melting off with all that walking with or without the help of the best weight loss pills I can find. It’s a great place to go because being a small zoo it doesn’t take all day to explore. You can spend about 2 hours at most viewing all the animals before you’re ready to call it a day, so you can be in and out in the morning before it gets really hot out in the summer time.
The munchkin would get in free until the age of 3, and it’s $6 per adult, but even at that price it ads up after multiple visits. The family membership is $49 a year, so just paying for the two of us it’d pay for itself in 4 visits or 3 if we were adding in the $3 kids ticket when munchkin gets older. Plus you also get 6 guest tickets that can be used anytime during the year (so we could ask JD, Dawn, and Baby JJ to go with us) and you get in free or at discounted prices at a ton of zoos throughout the country including Zoo Atlanta and Riverbank Zoo, so to me that’s definitely worth it. Oh yea there’s also a 10% discount to the gift shop, and you get free or discounted tickets to special zoo events like the annual Boo In The Zoo, something I’d love to take the munchkin to.
I’ve already convince myself, now I just need to convince Hubby it’s a good idea. He’s going to say “but what if we don’t go 3-4 times a year” and I’m going to say “but if we already had a membership I’d be more likely to hop in the truck for a random Saturday morning zoo trip!” I think it’s a good argument! Honestly I’d go ahead and purchase a membership as soon as I get paid, but I don’t think it would do us any good this year. I don’t see us visiting the zoo that often between now and the time the baby gets here, and there’s going to be quite a few months when we don’t take the baby anywhere. I do think it might be a good idea to purchase a membership around March or April of next year because the munchkin is going to be the perfect size to giggle and ooh and ahh over the animals next summer.
