Hump Day Blues

Jul 29, 2009 Author: Jenn | Filed under: Everything Else

Happy Hump Day.  It’s more like gloomy hump day around here today, but we can’t blame that on our moods today.  The rain has been coming down pretty steadily since about this time yesterday, and that just makes things seem blah.  We’ve spent most of the week working around the pasture and hauling cattle to the auctions, but it’s a little too wet and nasty for that today.

I’m waiting on Hubby to get out of the shower, then we’re off to pay some bills.  I’ve got a job to do this afternoon, and he’s got to drop off a few applications.  I forgot we’re supposed to go to dinner with the family tonight, so I’ll have to see if I can work that into our measley budget.  So far we’re staying afloat, but it’s definitely taken a lot of work.

Of course it doesn’t help when your power bill goes up $50.  Hubby had a pretty good fit over that, but he doesn’t realize it was inevitable.  We’re cooking a lot more, and I had to use the dryer a lot last month due to a good bit of rain.  He doesn’t realize hanging laundry out to dry saves us a great deal of money each month, and rainy days tend to fOOk that up for us.

Anywho, I guess I better go get dressed.  We’ve got to be at the tax office by 2pm if I want to see if the Blazer qualifies for high mileage this year.  It didn’t last year, but we’ve put 65000 miles on it, so I’m hoping it qualifies now.

Thinking About Education

I must be losing my mind.  Either that or you know Hubby being home so much is driving us all crazy when the cat is blogging about sending him back to school.  The truth is he is driving me crazy right now, but it happens.  I love ya Hubby, but I can’t wait for you to find another job!

Honestly right now I wish I could find another job, but seriously who’s going to hire me at this point?  It’d be one thing if it wasn’t so obvious I’ll be popping a baby out in a few months, but it’s very obvious now.

A few months back I thought about taking advantage of the fact that my work had slacked off and given me extra free time.  I thought about going back to school online.  I really don’t need many credits to finish my degree, and I’ve definitely thought about continuing my education beyond that.

I definitely don’t have the free time to do it now, but if I did I’d love to maybe think about an Organizational development program. Gonzaga University offers many of their master’s degrees online, and we all know with the baby there won’t be any chance of me going to school outside the home anytime soon.

Gonzaga understands that between jobs and family a lot of us don’t have the time to continue our education, so by allowing us to advance our education online we can work around our other commitments.  In the end this can also increase our quality of life through higher paying jobs and the ability to succeed.

I’ll definitely have to spend some more time looking into Gonzaga because the school definitely has me intriqued.  Not only did US News and World Report rank Gonzaga as #3 in the west, but KiplingersPersonal Finance also ranks them as one of the best values among private universities.  I’ve always been partial to private schools.  I chose a private college straight out of high school because I thought I’d get a better quality of education than a lot of the public schools can provide.

This is definitely something I’m going to have to think about.  I know I can’t go back to school anytime soon because we don’t have the recourses, and I currently don’t have the time, but I’d definitely love to have the option in the future.  It’s never too late to return to school, and I think everyone should have the chance to do so.  Plus, I want to set a good example for my daughter, and I think continuing my education is definitely one way to do that.

Wow…

Yep, I’m still here. I promise I didn’t fall off the face of the Earth. There has been a lot going on this weekend/week.  Some of it has been good like finding out we’re definitely having a baby girl.  Miss Eliana Grace will be joining us in November.  Some of it has been very bad, but we’ll discuss that later when I actually have the time to do so.

Right now what matters is that we have made it through another week, and life goes on.  I’m not promising I can get to everyone tonight, but I’m going to attempt to sit down with my email here in a bit.

I’ve been out of cell phone range and away from the computer for the most part of the weekend/week except for about 5 minutes yesterday, so hopefully I can get all this conquered tonight.  Just looking at the number of unread messages in my inbox makes me want to cringe lol.

I still have to look up an auto insurance quote for Hubby because I’m sick and tired of dealing with all the bs with Nationwide, but I doubt I’ll get to that tonight either.  Yep, that’s another one of those things we’ll have to discuss as soon as I get the time to share.

I have to cook dinner and take care of real life things around here that have been ignored since Friday, so if I don’t get back around the blog way tonight bear with me.  I promise I’m trying.

The Market Of Fleas & Exhaustion

Jul 16, 2009 Author: Jenn | Filed under: Oh Baby, Shopping

Yesterday was definitely one very exhausting day.  I didn’t get to do any mobile blogging like I had planned because I stayed pretty busy.  We got a late start heading to the flea market, but all was well.  After we had some coffee in our system (1/2 decaf & 1/2 caf for me), we got our tables setup and ready to go around 6am.

We had a full stream of steady traffic going by 7am, and it didn’t let up until we were packing up around noon.  We could have stayed longer since the flea market doesn’t close until 2pm, but I wouldn’t have made it any longer.  I had absolutely no energy left at all, and the heat was getting to me.

Anywho during the day we took turns watching each others tables so we could do some shopping as well.  As I suspected I would be, I was more interested in the food, so I didn’t really do much shopping.

Hubby did pick up a hydraulic jack for $30 that he was needing.  The one he was using broke a few months ago, and I definitely don’t trust the cheap little jacks that come with most vehicles…especially after I watched the Blazer’s jack collapse while changing a tire.  I had been planning to buy Hubby a new hydraulic one, but he’s really picky about brands and all that.  He got the one he’s been wanting, and he saved us $80 in the process.  That I can handle!

I scoped out the baby stuff, but I didn’t really find anything that was a deal…at least nothing we need right now.  There was a guy selling boxes of diapers wholesale, but it’s a good thing I price check even at the flea market.  He was selling the extra large cases of Pampers Swaddlers for $50, but even when they aren’t on sale I can get the same case cheaper than that (and with free shipping) on Diapers.com!

By the way if you’re new to Diapers.com you can save $10 off your first order of Diapers with the coupon code JSHUEY” just because you read about it Diapers.com here!

Anywho I’m going to stop rambling about diapers because I have so much stuff I do have to get done today.  After we finally made it home yesterday around 2pm I didn’t accomplish anything.  We were both so exhausted we laid down for a nap around 2:45pm.  That “quick nap” turned into 3 hours!  We finally awoke after Bubba got tired of hearing our phones ringing (my dad called about 15 times in a row) and started barking at us!

Neither of us slept a wink last night thanks to that nap, but it was well worth it.  We got to spend the day together scoping out a few of the regular wholesalers hanging out at the flea market these days, and we even sold a bit of our own junk!  It may completely wear me out, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
