Filled Under: Baby, Health, Personal

I’ve been running around all morning trying to get the housework done because I know I won’t have time to do a bit of it over the next couple of days.  We’ve got a list of places to appear tomorrow, and every single one of them revolves around a grandparent or great grandparent saying “that baby better come to Thanksgiving”.  I’m making a list and filling time slots as I go hoping we’ll have enough time to do it all.

I still have a ton of work I need to do today, too, if I have any hopes of not doing any work while Hubby’s home for his Thanksgiving vacation.  He’s only working a half day today then he’ll be home through Sunday, so I need to try to get all my work done before 2pm today.  That’s easier said than done when baby girl is on an every 2 hour feeding schedule right now.  That’s just something I have to deal with if I want breastfeed, right?  I’ve also got to remember to do an online backup of all my blogs today, too.

Anywho, the real reason I popped in here to write this post was to catch you up on what’s been going on while I’ve been quiet, but I guess I got sidetracked again.  I had my final checkup with the specialties doc on Monday, and I’m clear!

I called Saturday and had my dosage lowered when my bp started dropping in the 70s/50s, and Sunday I went off the pills completely.  Going from 2000mg of Labetalol a day to 0 doesn’t make ya feel so hot, so I’m still kind of dealing with the withdrawals from that.  The doc said it could take a week before I feel normal again, but I’m definitely noticing a major difference.  The fatigue that comes with so much bp medicine is gone, and I don’t feel like I’m going to fall over every time I stand up anymore.

Elliana turned a month old on Saturday, and I’m amazed everyday at all the new things she’s doing.  Tomorrow would have been her due date, and I realized how differently this past month could have been.  It would have been nice to have that extra month to prepare for her, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.  I can’t wait until her next checkup to see how much weight she’s gained, but this week she finally grew out of her preemie clothes and into newborn size.  It’s only fitting since she should technically be a newborn this week.

We did have a bit of a freak out session this weekend when Hubby and I thought we were dealing with our first case of constipation.  She was pretty fussy all weekend, and after Friday night we were lacking all those poo diapers we’re so used to changing.  After calling the nurse practitioner we were told to try the gas drops, exercise her legs, rub her tummy, and if nothing had happened in a few hours to give her a bit of sugar water.

As of Monday we were still lacking the poo, so I called back to speak to the doc.  Turns out she wasn’t constipated at all, so no wonder nothing was working for us.well except the gas drops because she was just gassy.  Right after I got off the phone with the doc we had a blow out that involved 4 diapers, 2 clothing changes, and a bath.

She was just changing up her poo schedule to a once every couple of days thing.  Apparently that’s perfectly normal for breastfed babies, and I went through that whole new mom who doesn’t know this kind of stuff freak out.  It just reminded me that there will probably be many many more such events throughout parenthood, and boy do we have a lot to learn!

Now I need to jump off here again.  I’ve got a pie to bake, laundry to do, and work to get done all before Hubby shows up.and of course a hungry little girl will be waking any minute.
