Filled Under: Baby, Personal

This is one of those days that makes me feel like I’ve been walking around all day with a little monkey hanging from me.  Technically I have.my little monkey must be going through a serious growth spurt because all she’s done all day is eat!  Thank goodness for my netbook or I’d be so lost being confined to the couch and my Cuddle-U nursing pillow all day with nothing to do but watch tv.

Seriously she’s been latched on almost constantly since 6:30am.  She stopped long enough to catch a nap that lasted about an hour, then she went right back to eating.  She’s fallen asleep a couple times, but within minutes she’ll wake up and start screaming and making her “sucka sucka” faces as well call them while sucking on her hands.

I made her a 4oz bottle about an hour and a half ago just to give my body a little break, but she downed it and was screaming for more within minutes.  No wonder she’s growing so fast!  She’s eating like a little piggy!

Speaking of growing I can’t be sure about the exact amount she’s weighing these days, but she’s definitely packing on the pounds.  She’s long outgrown her preemie clothes, and she’s starting to outgrow quite a few of her newborn outfits as well.  I stood on the scales last week, and there was an 8lb difference when I held her.  That means she’s already doubled her weight!

At this rate the little booger will be out of her 0-3 month clothes by New Years!  She also rolled over last night for the first time.  Neither of us were expecting it.  I had just changed her diaper, and before I got a chance to button her sleeper up she rolled completely over on the changing pad from her back to her tummy.  She’s been rolling on her side ever since she was born, but I definitely wasn’t expecting her to roll over so soon.

Everything I’ve read says she should start lifting her head and shoulders and looking around when she’s on her tummy at about 2-3 months.  She’s been doing that for weeks.  As for rolling over I wasn’t expecting that until 5-6 months since that’s what I’ve read.  I sure didn’t expect it to happen at 7 weeks!  Then again even the doctor said she was surprised at how strong her neck is and how much head and neck control she had at her 2 week checkup.  She was already trying to lift her head up to look around if you had her on your chest.

On one hand I’m super excited to see the things she’s accomplishing early, but on the other hand it makes me sad.  It means my little girl is already growing up way faster than I ever expected.
