Another Snow Day

The bad news is Hubby didn’t get to work yet again today.  I’m so ready for Winter to be over!  We’ve been robbing Peter to pay Paul as it is, and if this weather doesn’t let up soon I don’t know what we’ll do.

What makes it suck even more is when it’s nice and sunny now that the rain has stopped, but 40 minutes away they can’t get to the jobsite for all the snow and ice.  When Spring arrives all will be well because we won’t have to worry about Hubby being snowed out all the time.

At least while Hubby’s at home I can put him to work.  We’re going to finish some of the projects we’ve started around the house but haven’t had time to finish.  Then we’re going to run to town for some groceries, and I need to pick up something to help with the nodular acne Hubby gets on his cheeks. The normal pimple treatments just aren’t working, and we can’t really afford for him to see the dermatologist right now.

We’d planned to go to Lowe’s to look at some hardwood floors they have on sale for .78/sq ft.  We were going to do half the house with our tax money, but now I don’t see that happening.  I’m going to need to use that money to catch the bills back up.  Oh well.  Maybe we can do that sometime in the future.  We just wanted to replace these super old linoleum floors before Elliana is crawling and walking all over them.

Snow Babies & Growing Up

Wow. I can’t believe the weekend is almost over already. Last week and this weekend have really flown by. At least I can say it has been a pretty good weekend.

First of all, we got snow! Yay! But then again, what state didn’t get snow this week? Oh yeah that’s right. Hawaii is the only state to not have any this week. We ended up with about 3 1/2-4″ of the good fluffy stuff, so now I’ve gotten my snow fix for the year, and Spring can arrive at any minute. Seriously, Spring, please show up soon!

We took Elliana to my Nana’s this morning so we could get out and play for a bit before it all melted away. We did manage to build a snowman, but he had an unfortunate and untimely death. When we built him he ended up leaning to one side, and with the sun shining directly on him he fell over within an hour.

I did manage to get some photos of Elliana in the snow. I didn’t want to keep her outside for long, so I bundled her up in her little snow bunny outfit, and we ran her outside real quick. Unfortunately she’s been rather sleepy all day (I think because of the teething), so she slept through all the pics! Plus Hubby totally sucks (and admits it openly) at using a camera, so we only got one half way decent one out of about 10. Either my eyes were closed or something funky was going on in all the rest. I still have to edit the one decent one, so I’ll share it when I’m done.

As I was looking through the pics something else struck me. It’s seriously time for me to start using anti aging products on a daily basis. I’m starting to look rough, man! If I don’t do something soon I’m going to end up with a big mess of a face on my hands, and we don’t want that now do we?

Anywho, forget me for a minute. Back to the good stuff! Once we picked Elliana up from my Nana’s she was wide awake and ready party, so I took advantage of it. I got some new pics to add to her baby book, and I can’t believe how much she’s already changed again. That’s when it hit me that today she is 16 weeks old. Seriously? 4 months already? As I sit here comparing photos of her from just 2 months ago with photos of her now I can’t even believe it’s the same baby! What do you think?

Hyland’s Teething Tablets Work Great

Whew.  Elliana has been cutting another tooth this week, so things have been hectic as usual around here.  The dark circles under my eyes were starting to look pretty rough. For 2 nights she didn’t want to sleep at all, but at least she wasn’t in a cranky mood.

She was happy go lucky, but her gums were itching too bad for her to sleep.  She hated the Baby Orajel, so I ran out to get her some Hyland’s Teething Tablets, and all has been well since.  You wouldn’t even know she’s teething now if you didn’t see that little tooth popping through the gum!

I’ll never try to buy Orajel for her again, but the teething tablets rock.  The only little mishap we had was when she decided she tried to chew on her hand after I gave her 2 tablets.  She got the stuff all over her hand and wiped it all over her face.  It made for a pretty cute photo before I had to dig the stuff out of her nose with a q-tip!  I still don’t know how she got it in there!  When it dried on her face it was like chalk, so a quick wash of her face cleaned it up.

What happens when she spits out her teething tablets

So, if you’ve got a teething baby my advice is to skip the Orajel all together, and go for the teething tabs.  As with everything I give her I tried them first to see how they tasted/made her mouth feel, and they don’t leave that nasty numb feeling and taste like Orajel does.  Plus they’re all natural!

Wishful Thinking In A Clean House

By Jenn on Saturday, February 6, 2010

Today has been a pretty busy day around here.  We spent a lot of the day cleaning, rearranging, organizing, and stuff like that.  My Dad came by to see Elliana, and then my Grandma called wanting to know if she could keep her for awhile, so we let her while we ran our errands and did some of our organizing.

Strangely I still feel the urge to clean.  The urge started last night after Elliana went to sleep, and I think it’s because she went to bed early.  That left me with all this extra time on my hands that I didn’t know what to do with, so I spent 4 hours in the nursery cleaning, rearranging, organizing, packing up clothes that don’t fit, and unpacking clothes that will fit in the very near future.  She’s growing so fast!

I’ve been thinking about my “junk cabinet” in the kitchen.  It a really deep cabinet in the corner of the kitchen that I toss random junk into.  These days it mostly contains a ton of computer parts and a couple of laptops I was saving for parts, but I haven’t touched any of them in months. I keep telling myself one day something will happen and I’ll need a part, but if I haven’t touched them in months the reality is I can ditch all of them. Everything in there is already outdated by now. I can’t use most of it unless someone happens to bring an older computer to me that needs something I already have, so tonight they’re getting tossed.

I’ll just have to wait until Elliana goes to sleep before I start pulling it all out.  Right now Hubby is having Daddy/Daughter time with her for playtime.  Hopefully he’ll wear her out so she’ll be ready to go to sleep at 10:30.  I know it’s wishful thinking, but these days I’m doing a lot of that!
