Today has been quite the day. I’m so not feeling well today, but this is the day Ellie decided she wanted to wake up bright and early with Daddy as he was getting ready for work. Thankfully she stayed up a couple hours then we took a nap together. She stayed out for 2 hours, and that almost never happens. Normally her naps are 43 minutes on the dot, so I was thankful she let us both sleep a little longer.
After she woke up she ate like a ravenous pig, so maybe all that sleeping built up a nice appetite. My Dad stopped by, and she played with him for a bit, but she’s been fussy all day. I’ve had a hard time trying to figure out just what is making her fussy, but now I may know the culprit.
When she went down for her second nap of the day (which ended up being exactly 43 minutes) I hopped online to do some bill paying, sort through the auto insurance quotes I’ve been requesting, and get some work done. When I logged into my email I noticed 2 missed calls from D. My cell is dead, and I haven’t had time/keep forgetting to plug it up to charge, so thank you Youmail for those handy dandy emails you send. I’m able to see who’s tried to call me when my cell is off.
Boy am I glad D called. She took JJ to see the pediatrician this morning to find out why he still doesn’t want to eat now that he’s not sick anymore, and she found out he’s got Thrush. We wasn’t really expecting that because he hasn’t had the classic cottage cheese mouth. The good news is he hadn’t got to that stage yet. The bad news is he probably already had it on Saturday when we visited. While we were there he grabbed Elliana’s bottle and started drinking it. I washed it off before I gave it to her, but that doesn’t mean I got the germs off. Plus they both slobbered all over the same toys together, so there’s a good chance she could end up with Thrush.
Like I said she ate like a pig this morning, and she’s continued to do so all day, so she doesn’t seem to be showing any signs yet. How fussy she’s been today does have me still worried though. I’ll just have to keep an eye on her to see what happens, but we may be taking a trip to the pediatrician later in the week. Both babies have the same doc, so she’s already on alert that he could have spread it to Ellie.
I know she’s bound to probably get it at some point, and they’re bound to share germs spreading sickness at some point, too. There are a lot worse things they could spread than Thrush, and if she does develop it I’ll be on the lookout so we’ll catch it early hopefully before she gets to the stage when she doesn’t want to eat.
