Hubby came home with good news yesterday saying his interview went well. The office assistant gave him the interview, but then she faxed his resume straight to the boss while Hubby was there instead of waiting until today when the boss was coming home. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that’s a good sign, but I’m still not getting my hopes up.
Just incase we’ve been running around here today like wild people trying to get some loose ends tied up on the chance that he does get the job and leave sometime in the next week. There are things that need to be done to finish winterizing the house that I can’t do alone. The chimney needed to be cleaned, and some small things needed to be taken care of such as finishing the baby proofing. We hadn’t put cabinet locks on the cabinets in the bathroom because Ellie is never allowed in there without us. We didn’t have them on the cabinets to the entertainment center either, but today she figured out how to get those open. Hubby installed all those so that’s one less thing I’ll have to worry about if he’s gone.
We also took care of some things that will just make my life easier without him around to help such as moving a massive amount of firewood from the barn to the back porch. It isn’t exactly cold enough here for a fire yet, but if it happened to turn chilly while he was gone I’d have to scramble to find a sitter while I moved the firewood myself. It’s going to make my life much easier to know it’s already there.
We also sat down and came up with a list, well almost like a budget, of how we’re going to do things if Hubby does get the job or what to do if he doesn’t get it. If he gets this job it will make our lives a lot easier. We’ll be able to pay our bills, make double and triple payments on our car loan, pay off other debts, and have a little extra to build our savings back up. Our savings have been almost non-existent in the last year thanks to Hubby’s lay off last summer.
If he gets the job I’m also going to look into getting term life insurance at Wholesale prices since Hubby doesn’t have any insurance. My policy (that I just discovered I have) is a universal life insurance policy that can be cashed in for face value, and if we needed to cash it in to pay the bills we could. I’d rather not have to do that, but if we had no other option I would do it and then get another policy once one of us is back to work full time. That is actually my plan z, and we discussed that today. I also ran it by my dad to make sure he wouldn’t get upset if we have no other choice but to do that, and he agreed it was ok.
I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that, though. I’m crossing my fingers and saying a prayer every night that Hubby gets this job. It’s going to be a major adjustment for us to make, but I think in the end it will be well worth it.
