I'm a 35 year old South Carolina girl. I've been happily married for 13 years to my very own superhero, Ben, and we share our life with our precious daughters, Ellie and Aubrey, on a small family owned farm at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains. Blogging is a way for me to express my feelings, vent my frustrations, and discuss life as a mom. I talk about products our family loves, crafting, cooking, motorcycles, family fun, finances, and a bit of everything in between.
I have always had a thing for musical instruments. When I walk around flea markets and yard sales I keep my eye out for unique and/or beautiful instruments. I want to buy every one I find, but I know it’s not possible. I want to learn to play anything I can get my hands on, but I know I just don’t have the time to do that. I have many instruments in my home that I can’t play, but I found them too beautiful to not display.
I saw an old guitar at the Jockey Lot this weekend that I wish I had brought home with me. It was broken, so I passed it by. When I got home I started second guessing myself for not purchasing it. The beautiful guitar reminded me so much of the epiphone dove pro.
It hand a beautiful hand painted bird image on it, and now I’m thinking of so many ways I could have upcycled that guitar into wall art. I’m going to the Jokey Lot again on Saturday, and this time you can bet I’ll have my eyes open looking for that seller again. I know he’s a regular, so maybe if I’m lucky that old broken guitar will still be there.
If you are looking for a starter drone, the Best Drone By Get Childish is a fun option. My husband couldn’t wait to try it out, and he loves it so much I have to pry it out of his hands if I want to play with it!
The drone comes with everything you need except 4 AA batteries for the controller, and there was enough charge on the drone battery to fly it right out of the box. It is a small, compact, and lightweight drone. The battery inside the drone charges via a special usb cable, and a kit with extra parts and screwdrivers is included.
I was a little worried about flying the drone inside the house, but we’ve been having fun with it inside and out. It is easy to control, and the shape makes it less likely to damage anything if you accidentally fly into a wall…except for maybe the drone itself. I’m a little disappointed with the flimsy plastic, and I feel as if I’m holding my breath every time it bumps into something or crashes waiting for it to break.
My daughters love the alien emblem, and my 2 year old calls it the “alien”. It does look like a little alien spaceship flying through the sky, especially at night with the red and blue lights.
When it comes to flying I feel the learning curve is super small for adults. Both my husband and I were flying it with no problem within minutes. My 6 year old can get it off the ground, but she has trouble keeping it in the air. My 2 year old is happy chasing it around the yard at this point.
-The battery doesn’t last long. The longest we’ve gone on a full charge is about 30 minutes. The charge seems inconsistent and sometimes it will only fly around 10 minutes.
-We’ve had to re-calibrate twice in less than a couple weeks.
-Sometimes we can fly it a great distance from us. Other times it seems to lose signal mid air only a few feet away.
-The plastic is flimsy.
-There isn’t an off switch on the drone itself, so you have to disconnect the battery every time. It is extremely hard to disconnect, and the battery compartment is tiny. I feel like I’m going to pull the wires out of the connector every time I disconnect it to charge or so it doesn’t drain the battery down when not in use. My husband can’t fit his fingers into the battery compartment to unplug it at all!
Overall, we have really enjoyed this drone, and would buy another. It is a fun little toy that allows adults and children alike a flying experience without buying an expensive drone. Check out the short video below to see the Get Childish Drone in action right before dark.
Is it silly that it makes me a little sad that my “baby” has passed the teething phase? I guess it goes right along with the fact that she isn’t a baby anymore, and my last baby is growing up on me. I have lots of friends and family members who are pregnant or have just had babies, so there are still plenty of babies for me to love on when I’m in one of my baby needing moods.
I’m known as the resident diaper cake girl in our circle. If anyone wants to gift a diaper cake or have one as a baby shower centerpiece without taking the time to make one themselves, they call me. I enjoy making them and filling each cake full of lots of things first time moms will really need or may not consider essential when creating a registry. Time and time again I’ve had new moms tell me how thankful they are that I always add good quality teething rings because they really come in handy when those little pearly whites begin to emerge.
I recently receive a set of Baby Teether Toys that I’ll be adding to my diaper cake making supplies. My Great Baby offers a set of silicone teethers that are just perfect for sensitive little gums.
First of all let me say this set is supposed to come with 3 teething rings and 2 finger brushes. The set I received did NOT include 2 of the finger brushes, so that was a bit of a disappointment. In the photo above you will notice on the right the plastic is molded where the second finger brush should be, but it wasn’t in the package. The missing finger brush wasn’t enough to make me return the product, but I was disappointed to find it missing from the package.
As for the rest of the teethers, they are great! They are a nice quality silicone product that is soft for baby’s gums but provides the relief needed during teething. I like that the teething rings are made from food grade silicone and are BPA free, a major plus when it comes to something that’s going in a baby’s mouth. I’ve found that hard plastic teething rings sometimes gather gunk in the crevices and deep grooves. That makes them very hard to wash. These silicone teethers are pliable, so it makes it super easy to wash all the germs and gunk away.
The teethers are brightly colored giving baby plenty of visual stimuli, too. They are also the perfect size for little hands to hold. There are many different textures to stimulate gums, so this is one set of teethers that your baby won’t become bored with.
