Top 5 Contest Winner

So as usual I’m a little late on getting the announcement out, but I’m sure there are a few of you out there who haven’t heard yet who the winner is of the Top 5 Writing Project sponsored by Problogger and Chitika. Congratulations to Nancy Callahan and her entry about Baby Names From Video Games. It’s definitely one interesting topic I wouldn’t have thought to write about! Stop by, read her top 5, and make sure you congratulate her!

EDIT- I noticed Nancy’s site seems to be down at the moment.  Be patient with her.  I’m sure she has had a huge influx of traffic today from the contest that has most likely caused server issues.

One For Me? How About One For You, Too?

What do you buy an Ailurophile? (To the theme of the Klondike Jingle) Don’t know what that is? That’s a cat lover for all of you out there who don’t know, and Christine over at The Passionate Ailurophile is definitely a huge cat fan. If you had to buy something for her, what would you buy? If she gave you a list of 3 things she wants, could you decide which one is best? This is exactly what she’s asking her readers to do! She’s got a contest going on right now where you pick which item out of 3 that she should buy. Tell her why she should buy it and why you like it, and you might just find yourself as the proud owner of the same thing!

The choices are:

  • Alton Brown’s “Feasting On Asphalt”
  • The Complete Peanuts 1950-1954 Box Set
  • The Odd Couple: The Complete First Season

There’s no competition here for me. I’d totally buy Alton Brown’s “Feasting On Asphalt”. What is better than food and motorcycles in one show? NOTHING! I mean come on, we know I love motorcycles more than anything. Okay, so my hubby, dog, and cat come first, but after that there’s nothing better for this girl than a motorcycle and some good food.

If you’ve never seen the show, you definitely need to check it out. I cried when hubby canceled our DVR. This is one show that I would watch over and over, and one of the few I actually ever DVR’d. Everytime I see the show I tell hubby, “We have to go there!” The show isn’t just your typical cooking show with a couple bikes thrown in. You really have to love all of the middle of nowhere, back roads, hometown restaurants. We’re not talking about fancy high class expensive restaurants most of us will never see. We’re talking about the real american food from biscuits and hashbrowns to barbecue, meatloaf, and chili. The show is hilarious as you watch Alton Brown travel from the east coast to the west coast, and best of all, you get a history lesson thrown in all along the way. What’s better than motorcycles, good food, comedy, and history all in one package? NOTHING! If you’ve never seen the show, just check out the youtube clip below for a glimpse into something wonderful! He’s up at Deal’s Gap, the place I went 2 weeks ago, and will be going again this weekend, and omg, let me tell you, there’s some GOOOOD food up there. Oh yeah, and you can get a glimpse at where we’ll be spending most of our time this summer, too!
