Stupidity Of Content Thieves

Seriously, I have to laugh at the stupidity of some of these content thieves out here today.  In the last 24 hours I’ve had 6 post completely ripped off by 1 blog.  They didn’t take excerpts like most thieves do.  This person took 6 complete posts that were all written in the last 2 weeks.

Now I’m sitting here laughing at the person who did this.  Why do I find it funny?

They posted my stolen content on a Blogspot blog that was in the Entrecard system!  I immediately started receiving messages from people telling me my content was stolen, but I’d already taken care of it.  The thief was kind enough to leave my link in each post, so the links showed up in my dashboard as soon as someone followed one to my site.

When I visited the blog, my 6 stolen posts were the only posts found on the thief’s blog.  I immediately contacted Blogger, and the thief’s blog was gone when I woke up this morning.

Why can’t it always be that easy?

Use Your Blog To Connect

I don’t have severe health problems like a lot of my blogging friends do, but now I can relate to them in a small way understanding exactly why it is they feel the need to blog about their health problems.

It helps them to feel like they are not alone in this world with the issues they face on a daily basis.  It gives them a chance to connect with other people experiencing the same problems, and it also gives them a place to vent about what’s going on with the illness.

When I finally decided to write my post about the boils I’ve dealt with for years I knew it was going to be something gross that a lot of people wouldn’t want to read about.  I finally just needed a place to vent because it’s not exactly something I want to talk about with my family and friends.  When I have discussed it with people before I’ve always gotten weird looks and then treated like something was seriously wrong with me.

Since writing the post I’ve been overwhelmed by the number of emails from other people who are experiencing the same thing.  Most of them have been trying to get a diagnosis for years while others never really thought about it as something could be wrong with them.

Most of the people who have contacted me are women, some of them people I already know and connect to through blogging, and I’ve also had a few men email me.  One guy has been so worried because he thought he might have an STD.  He’s been afraid to go to the doctor about it, and now he’s scheduled an appointment because he has connected with someone who can talk to him about his issues and help him deal with the element of fear.

All those emails have proven to me that sometimes the best way to find your own support group is to write about it.  Other people will share their own experiences with you, and together you can all connect and help each other through it.

Just Not In The Mood

I so haven’t felt like blogging today.  I’ve had a lot on my mind and even more going on behind the scenes.  I had to bitch about a few things, but I’m over it now.  I bitched to the people I knew would understand and kept it out of my blogs for once.

I honestly haven’t felt like blogging much in the last two weeks.  It’s not because I don’t have a lot to say.  I just haven’t felt like sitting down at the computer.  When I have felt like sitting down here for a few minutes I’ve done something else.

I love creating signature tags, but I do it in spurts.  I’ll create like crazy for awhile, then I’ll just stop for a few months.  This has been one of those weeks when I’ve wanted to create.  I guess I can attribute it to the fact that I just needed something to take my mind of all the crap we’ve had going on around here.  In the past when I would get upset or pissed off I’d sit down with Paint Shop Pro.  That’s how I handled things.

I’ve been kind of down and out with all that’s going on with the bike, but I think I cured that tonight.  Lisa made sure to let me know about a big Bath & Body Works sale that’s going on, so I racked up.  I saved $41.75 on things I buy every few months anyway.  I’ve done so much shopping for Hubby this week it felt good to buy a few things for myself and my home.

I think I’m off for now.  I need to grab a shower before Hubby decides to jump in there, and I just realized I’ve hardly eaten anything all day.  I may return later.  We shall see!

Is Expensive Web Hosting Better?

I just renewed my contracts with 2 of my web hosts and it reminded me of a few things. Sometimes people tend to think it’s best to have different hosts for your different domains. Other people prefer to have 1 package with multiple domain hosting. I myself have 3 different web hosting packages. I have multiple domains on 2 hosts, but I also have 1 package where I only host 1 domain. Why so many?

We all know hosting can go down from time to time. I’m anal about it, and I like to know if one host is down my sites with my other hosts are still active. I like knowing everything won’t go down at the same time across the board.

I also have 3 packages because I signed up for a service that was cheaper to see if I would like it or not. I’ve tried a lot of different hosts, and I can tell you pricier isn’t always better. There are a lot of good cheap reliable hosting services out there that will give you better support and hosting than some of the more expensive ones.

So how do you know which one is right for you? First of all never sign up for a hosting plan before checking it out yourself. Take the time to see how the service runs before giving them your cash. Talk to others who use the service. Email the hosting company (or submit a ticket) with any questions you might have. Check out websites like Web Hosting Articles and Tutorials for tips on how to know which cheap hosting is good and which isn’t. You don’t have to settle for something more expensive.
