Give The Gift Of A Personalized Makeup Box

I received product in exchange for my honest opinion in this review.

With Mother’s Day  just a few days away I’m sure there are plenty of people out there scrambling to find the perfect gift for Mom.  Popular gift ideas include flowers or a piece of jewelry, but what if you would like to give Mom something different this year?

Why not give her the gift of a sampler box that comes packed with $80-100 of top of the line full size makeup or jewelry products handpicked especially for the recipient?  At $40 for a single box or $36 for a monthly box subscription this is a steal!

I received a makeup box to share with you guys, and I’m loving it.  The ordering process is simple.  Start by choosing which type of box you prefer, makeup or jewelry.

Then answer a few questions about the types of products you (or the gift recipient) use and/or prefer.  I don’t use a lot of brow or nail products, so I chose not to include those types of products in my box.  Continue customizing the box with other options such as color preferences, shimmer or non, etc.

customize a wantable boxOnce I finished the process it was a matter of waiting for my box to arrive.  I admit I wasn’t sure how I would like the products because I’m super picky about what colors I choose.  When my box arrived I was actually pretty impressed with the selection.  My box contained 7 full size products, and I’ve used all but one of them in the last week.  I still have yet to try the eye gels because I don’t want to mess with my sensitive pregnancy skin right now.  I’m saving those for post-baby.

In The Box:

As you can see the products in the box are definitely worth double what the box costs.  My box has an estimated value (factoring splitting the cost of the liner pack) of $109.95!

My absolute favorite products are the Cailyn duo shadow pencil, Cailyn lip pot, and Lavera eye liner.  All three are products I would have never purchased on my own, but I’ve used every single day since receiving my box.  This has been a great way to try new products, and giving my Mom her own customized box for Mother’s Day is a great way to introduce her to products I know she would otherwise never try on her own!

My Wardrobe

If you were to actually see me in real life (and a few of you who know me in real life can confirm this), I have a very distinct style when it comes to my clothing. No, I don’t wear the latest fashions. I don’t dress up everyday. I actually spend almost every single weekday in my pajamas since I work from home…can you blame me?

But when I leave the house you almost always see me in a t-shirt and jeans. I used to wear nothing but funny t shirts that I thought fit in with my life somehow. These days I’ve got my geek shirts as well, but my funny t shirts are still top priority.

I’m also absolutely horrible about taking care of my clothes. I hardly eat a meal without dropping something on my shirt (yes I’m a messy eater!), and of course it’s always got to be something that leaves a huge stain. I always say oh well I’ll buy another one, but not I’m realizing it’s getting harder to find replacements for some of my favorite funny t shirts that I absolutely love. These days I normally go ahead and buy 2 right off the bat so I’ll have a replacement after I totally screw up the first one.

There are a few I need to order new versions of though. My white “That’s how I roll” babydoll has a big stain right under the “roll”.  I think I might just have to go on a buying spree tonight.  There’s nothing else to do at 3am, and Hubby’s in need of some new t shirts, too.

Warm But Thin Clothing

It might not be cold here yet, but I know it will be soon, and I really need to buy some more sweaters and pullovers for the winter. I’m sitting here this morning in my favorite wool pullover because it’s freezing in the house even though it’s going to be 73 today.

My biggest problem is that most of my winter clothing consists of really thick sweaters and pullovers, and I’m in need of something that’s going to still be warm but thin. Now that I’m wearing my motorcycle jacket at least 2-3 times a week I’m having a hard time finding warm clothing that will fit under my jacket when I’ve got my thermal liner in.

I was just checking out a site that sells stuff like cashmere jumpers and Wool overs. The site is, and I’m really going to have to go back through their selection when I’ve got some cash on hand. I’ve already found a ton of wool and cashmere sweaters that look extremely warm, but are still thin enough to wear under my motorcycle jacket. I love finding sites like this who understand and cater to those of us who spend a lot of time outdoors.
