Another Scorcher

Good morning everyone.  According to the weather man it’s going to be another scorcher today.  We’re looking at a high somewhere between 99-101 again, and everyone’s out and about early trying to beat the heat.

I took the dog out at 6am figuring I’d be the only one on the block awake as usual, but to my surprise I was wrong.  My Grandparents were already working in one of their gardens behind my house, my cousin who lives across the road from us was pulling his lawnmower out of his shed, and I could already hear a couple other lawnmowers doing their jobs on down the road somewhere.

As usual it’s not a case of up early for me.  It’s the usual case of I haven’t been to bed yet, but it looks like the rest of the neighborhood decided to wake up early to join me.  It feels so nice out there right now.  The garden thermometer on my patio says it’s 74.  I wish it would stay like that all day!

Hubby wants me around the computer this morning trying to win an Ebay auction for him, but it doesn’t end ’til 9:30.  I might just have to head outside for an hour or so to enjoy the perfect temps while they last.  I bet it’ll be blazing out there by 10.  Luckily the humidity is supposed to stay pretty low all day.  That’s definitely a plus down here!

Bring On The Ice

I tried to sleep last night, but it just didn’t happen. It’s just too freakin’ hot in this house. Throw in southern humidity, and it feels like a sauna in the rooms that have no AC at all. Our AC unit is working overtime due to this heat wave we’re having, and it’s just not doing it’s job. The smaller unit isn’t even keeping the bathroom cool right now! They both keep freezing up like crazy. Hubby promised to put the even bigger AC unit in the guest room today, but he never got to it. I’ve got every room shut off that I can, but it’s not helping much.

I don’t know what we’re going to do tomorrow. If the units haven’t been able to handle the past few days they sure won’t be able to handle tomorrow. It’s supposed to get up to at least 100. I guess whether I get any sleep or not we’ll be heading to the in laws to lounge in the pool for awhile.

I just pulled a fan out of the closet that I’ve been meaning to clean up. I needed to take it outside to blow the dust off from sitting in storage, but a quick wipe down is going to have to do tonight. I pointed it into my office, stuck a chair in front of it, and now Bubba’s up in the chair hogging all the air lol! Even the dog thinks it’s hot!

Poor guy can’t take the heat though. He can barely stand to go outside long enough to do his business, and I’ve been making ziplock bags of ice for him to lay on, and he’s loving it. He’s also got a small bowl full of ice next to his water bowl, and he’s eating those up. I’d say with our AC units not pulling their weight it’s been close to 90 in the house all night. It finally ended up cooler outside the house, so I shut the units off and opened the windows. It’s starting to cool down, but since daylight just hit it won’t help for long!
