Silence.
Quiet time doesn’t come often in this house, especially on a Friday night when we have friend’s over. So why is it so quiet tonight? I’m the one who has no energy tonight. I feel like I should have passed out hours ago, but my body just won’t let me. The fact that everyone else is quiet meant I had to go investigate.
What did I find? Hubby’s passed out on the couch, our friend is passed out on the love seat, Bubba is passed out on the other end of the couch, and Alley is passed out on top of one of our coffee tables. Yes, that’s right we have two coffee tables. One sits in the middle of the room as usual, and the other got pushed up against the wall to hold random junk. That’s besides the point though. The point is I’m loving how quiet it is tonight!
Eventful Day
Wow today was a busy day. I planned to get a lot of accomplished today, but I got caught up this afternoon when my friend came over and told me if I hadn’t already seen in it I had to watch a documentary he just watched. It’s another 911 documentary called “Loose Change”, but the entire documentary voices every single one of my thoughts about what really happened on 911 as well as a few other things I hadn’t thought about. If you want to check it out, it’s on Youtube. I’ve place it on my blog, but the full version is about an hour and 29 minutes.
After Hubby got home we took off to G Vegas to pick up his bike chain from Cycle Gear, and then we had to high tail it to see his little sis. Today’s her 13th birthday, so we had to make a big deal out of it. A girl only becomes a teenager once!
As soon as she unwrapped her present Tom the cat decided the tissue paper was his. While the boys played video games in the background Tom posed for a few pictures.

He wrapped up in the tissue paper…

And fell asleep on us. Man I want Tom’s life. He’s got it so easy!
Freddie The Pyro Strikes
Yes, Freddie tried to burn the house down tonight. Who is Freddie?
This is Freddie…
Freddie is my best friend’s snake. She’s had him for about a month, and tonight he took his chances on his first cage escape. In the process Freddie set the house on fire.
On his way out of his cage, he knocked his heat lamp over onto the living room floor. My friend came upstairs to find the living room full of smoke and the carpet burning.
Way to go Freddie!
Freddie is still AWOL at the moment, but we’re hoping he’ll come out of hiding sometime tonight.
Peek A Boo Kitty
Hubby is finally doing something productive…he’s calling it his “Sunday Chore” since he spent all day gaming. They’re still at it BTW, he’s just taking a break because I told him I wanted the door knob to the den changed, and I wanted it changed now!
The door knob fell off in my hand this morning when I went to open the door, but luckily we bought a new knob awhile back, so it’s just a matter of changing it out real quick.
Hubby went on a search to find the new knob, and I just happened to walk through the dining room in time to see this…

How did he get up there? The boys have the love seat pushed over in front of the door to make room to setup their extra stuff. He’s sitting on the back of the couch peering through, and it’s one of those shots that I was just lucky enough to grab since I had my cell phone in my hand.
Shut Up Already!
Good god my aunt’s dog, Daisy, is driving me insane right now. I feel bad for her because she’s a really old dog. Seriously, I don’t even know how old she is because I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t around, and I’m friggin’ 26. We got one of her puppies when we were kids, and we had 2 more generations of dogs from that puppy. I swear she’s immortal.
Poor thing can’t really see or hear well anymore though, but she has her ways of figuring things out. I don’t know how many times I’ve told my aunt she needs to keep her in the fence because I see her laying in the middle of the road sunning. My aunt always reminds me Daisy always lays in the road, and she just knows to move because a car is headed her way.
That’s exactly how it works, too. She’ll lay out there all day, but if you see her head to the driveway you know a car is nearby. Sure enough within about 30 seconds a car will come by and Daisy will head back out to sun in the road. Maybe that’s the sixth sense I hear so much about, but honestly I think she can feel the vibrations or something.
Anywho, that’s not where I was going with this post. The more Daisy’s hearing and eye sight goes, the more she barks at night. It started out a couple years ago with her barking a couple hours each night after dark. Then it became an all night thing a couple nights a week. Here lately she’s barked constantly all night long waking me up every little bit (on the nights I actually sleep). Normally it doesn’t bother me as much because she stays on her pillow on my aunt’s porch, but the past couple of nights she’s parked herself on my front porch…right outside my office window.
Tonight it’s a nice night out, so when she started barking I opened the window. That calmed her down for a little while, but then she started up the barking again. It’s been nonstop for the past couple of hours. Even worse, being that close to the house, Bubba wants to know what’s going on, so he’s been barking and growling like crazy the past couple of hours, too.
I don’t see how Hubby’s sleeping through it, but then again Hubby can sleep through just about anything. I really wish I could do something for the poor girl though.
