EVGA Making It Better

After telling you how horrible I think EVGA motherboards are, I wanted to at least admit that the RMA program isn’t that bad.  I’m not too happy with the fact that we have to pay if we want cross-shipping, but that’s understandable.  I’m quite pleased with the fact that I submitted the RMA form last night, and although I was told it could take up to 48 hours to approve, I had the approval in my inbox first thing this morning.  I’m giving EVGA props for at least trying to rectify the situation in a timely manor.  Let’s just hope this board isn’t DOA, too!

Flowers For Graduation

With graduation upon us, everyone is looking for that special gift. Why not send flowers online that you know will arrive in time and will be fresh? A lot of people really don’t know what to get someone as a graduation present.

I received the normal monetary gifts, books, things like that, but I also received some really weird presents. One elderly couple bought me a subscription to a business magazine because they believed if I was going to college, I must be going for something in a business field. I was actually going pre-med. A lady that worked with my dad gave me a complete set of curtains for “the new apartment”. I guess she didn’t realize my new place was a campus apartment shared with 7 other girls. It was basically our own small dorm hall with very few windows, and the pattern on the curtains was a horrible flower print.

I also received quite a few flower bouquets, and those are some of the gifts I cherished the most. I was able to dry the flowers, and add them to a scrapbook that I will look at many times over my lifetime. So, if you don’t know what to get the new graduate this year, consider a gift of flowers!

Death To EVGA

Have I told you have much I hate EVGA boards? So I mentioned a little while ago that the Monster PC is back at my house, and we’re getting it fixed up again. I originally didn’t have a friggin’ clue what the problem was this time, but it didn’t take me long to realize that one of the pci express 16x slots was dead. So, of course that one’s going back to EVGA and we receive a return. Since hubby’s boss didn’t want to wait for a backup to arrive, he ordered another identical board from Tiger Direct that arrived today.

Hubby was so happy because he had the entire system back together and ready to power up in about an hour. He hit the button to turn it on and I heard that horrible sound that no one wants to hear with a brand new system. Yep, I got the beep code. I was hoping it was something simple, and I was happy when I looked up the code and saw it was a DIMM problem. Simple I thought. Just check the ram, make sure it’s seated right, and hopefully all will be fine. Nope, that didn’t fix it. Hubby took all ram out and started with just one stick. We tested all 4 sticks with no luck, so we broke down and called EVGA tech support. My heart sunk when I heard those two dreaded words…DEAD BOARD.

I seriously don’t think I’ll be buying anything from EVGA ever again. I seriously don’t like the fact that 2 out of 2 boards were either DOA or died shortly after. The first board still has to be returned for an exchange, so there will be a 3rd 680i on its way, but if that one’s dead, too, who wants to help me strangle the guys over at EVGA? At least the second one can be sent back to Tiger Direct for a refund.
