Wow today was a busy day. I planned to get a lot of accomplished today, but I got caught up this afternoon when my friend came over and told me if I hadn’t already seen in it I had to watch a documentary he just watched. It’s another 911 documentary called “Loose Change”, but the entire documentary voices every single one of my thoughts about what really happened on 911 as well as a few other things I hadn’t thought about. If you want to check it out, it’s on Youtube. I’ve place it on my blog, but the full version is about an hour and 29 minutes.
After Hubby got home we took off to G Vegas to pick up his bike chain from Cycle Gear, and then we had to high tail it to see his little sis. Today’s her 13th birthday, so we had to make a big deal out of it. A girl only becomes a teenager once!
As soon as she unwrapped her present Tom the cat decided the tissue paper was his. While the boys played video games in the background Tom posed for a few pictures.

He wrapped up in the tissue paper…

And fell asleep on us. Man I want Tom’s life. He’s got it so easy!
It’s 2:30am and Hubby finally got the door fixed. I feel bad for him because he’s had so much to do tonight. First he had to come home and do a brake job on his dad’s truck. That took a lot longer than expected. Then about the time Hubby started to work on the door one of our friend’s called because her toilet was going nuts, and water was everywhere. Hubby did a quick fix on the door so I could shut before he rushed off to fix her toilet, but neither of us felt like it was a safe fix for the night.
We’re not worried about someone breaking in here. We live in one of those places where we could leave the door open all night, and we probably wouldn’t have any problems except for a few wandering cats trying to get inside, but still we didn’t want that. Other other problem would be our own pets. The quick fix held the door shut, but didn’t allow it to lock. If Bubba decided to smack into it again it would have flown open again, and that happening while we were sleeping could result in two very lost pets.
So when he finally made it home about midnight he finally grabbed a bite to eat and went back to work on the door. Finally 2 1/2 hours later my door is completely fixed. Tomorrow he’s going to replace the ugly molding around the inside of the door. Now, if I could just get my Grandparents to let us get rid of the ugly brown paint! It looks even more horrible with a brand new piece of nice clean wood there. Oh well, I can keep hoping.
Good morning everyone. I wanted to sleep in on this overcast Saturday morning, but apparently that isn’t happening. At least I’ll have all day to get things accomplished in peace as Hubby left this morning for a day trip to the mountains with a couple friends.
I wanted to go with them, but as moody and crampy as I am it wouldn’t have been a pleasant ride. I’ve got some work to finish up today, so at least I can do that, then I might end up going back to bed for awhile. I just feel totally bleh. This is normal with my first day of full blown pms, but no matter how many times I go through it I’m never used to it. I hate feeling so tired and run down.
On another note my sister’s cat had kittens last night. I haven’t seen them in person yet, but she sent me a picture, and they’re adorable. There were 7 kittens…yes SEVEN! CAT6 is probably coming home with me when it’s old enough. I’ve been wanting to add another cat to our family, and it’s gray & white just like Alley. There’s just something about gray & white cats that I love.
Mama cat will be going off to the vet soon to get herself fixed. She was a rescue, and she was already pregnant when she was left in a box at the vet’s office. No one wanted her, of course, because she was already pregnant, but my sister couldn’t resist her. She’ll be fixed for free, and since our vet also runs a non-profit no kill shelter, any kittens that haven’t already been placed in homes will be found homes through the shelter.
My fellow cat mamas unite! I need your opinions! For awhile now I’ve been trying to convince hubby to let me buy one of those self cleaning litter boxes. We’ve only got the one cat, but I swear he poops like we’ve got 10. He’s also super picky, and he won’t pee in the same litter box he uses for poo, so we have to keep two litter boxes at all times. I’ve got the poo box in the bathroom, and the pee box stays in the utility room off my kitchen. If I don’t keep two boxes he’ll pee in the floor, on the laundry, or wherever he feels like it.
First of all I hate having to clean two litter boxes just because I have a super picky cat and I’m super lazy. Secondly we’ve got the dog to worry about. No he doesn’t steal little kitty logs from the litter box (thank god), but he has developed a new habit. If we don’t clean out the poo box within minutes of Alley using it, Bubba will attempt to use it himself instead of going to the door to let me know he needs to go out. I love the fact that my dog’s interested in using the litter box, but he can’t seem to aim properly, and he ends up pooping half in and half out. That leaves me with a bigger mess to clean up.
I told hubby I thought getting a self cleaning litter box might solve both problems. Not only would it clean up the box every few minutes so I wouldn’t have to, it would also keep the kitty logs out of the box so maybe Alley would learn to use just one. It also is a lot easier than having to manually give each box a good scrub down every week. Plus I’ve already mentioned earlier in my blog that hubby and I are now officially trying for a little one, and we all know some stages of pregnancy and used cat litter just don’t mix.
I think a self cleaning box would be a good investment, but I don’t want to buy the first one I see. I want opinions! Who uses them, which ones, and how well do they work? No matter which brand I’ve looked at, they all cost a pretty penny, and I don’t want to waste that much money on something that isn’t worth it.
Every time I see the Cat Genie commercial I want to buy one, but I’m not paying $300 ($369.99 from PetCo! for it. I seriously can’t afford it even though it seems to have a super high rating on all of the pet sites. If the price were a little lower I’d be all over it with how sanitary it is and all. Plus I can just hear the dollars adding up that I’d save not buying cat litter every week.
Seriously guys, what are your thoughts?
