Game Night

We spent all day working on mechanical things like changing brakes on a friend’s car, doing a tune up, working on a bike, etc.  When we got home I was dog tired, and I thought I was going to pass out as soon as I hit the bed, but I guess I’ve grabbed my next wind.

A friend is staying here tonight, so after Hubby went to bed we started playing video games.  It quickly turned into a Rock Band marathon, and I realized something.   When I’m concentrating on the game, I don’t think about smoking.  I finally took a cigarette break three hours after we began playing.

Maybe I need to convince my friend to bring Rock Band over more often!  We used to play it so much I got burnt out on it after awhile, but now I’m back in the mood to play!

We’re taking a break from the video games for awhile though.  We decided to pull out Stratego!

Summer Where Are You?

I laid down for a little while, but I’m up again.  Tonight it’s not because of insomnia or my thyroid.  It’s because I just can’t breathe.  My allergies are in full swing again, and I just can’t stand to lay in bed long when I can’t breathe.  I will be soooo glad when Spring is over.  Normally by early Summer my allergies subside.  Oh Summer please hurry up and get here!

I’m going to take some more meds and try to go back to sleep at least for a little while.  I’m supposed to help Hubby change the chain and sprocket on the bike, but I don’t think I’ll be worth much.

Then tomorrow afternoon I have to meet up with a friend I haven’t seen in years.  My friend, Doug, was a groomsman in our wedding.  He lives downstate, and I’ve only seen him once in the 5 years since our wedding.

He called me last night and surprised me by telling me he’s in Anderson right now, about 30 minutes away!  He knew he couldn’t come all the way up here without telling us, but he wanted it to be a surprise, so he waited until he was here to call.  We’re going to meet up with him tomorrow afternoon for dinner and maybe a couple drinks.  It’ll be so nice to see him, catch up, and find out what’s been going on since the last time I saw him.

The Trip

Little A spent most of the day with me sitting at one of the pull offs. We parked so he could watch his mama riding up and down the mountain on her motorcycle.

Allison and Hubby wanted me to grab some pictures of them so they don’t have to wait for Killboy to get their photos up, but my little Kodak point and shoot just can’t keep up with the bikes. I seriously want a DSLR!

Allison went by in a blur.

She was followed by Hubby on our friend Rodney’s ‘06 GSXR 750.

Hubby has been debating on whether to upgrade to an R1 or a GSXR 750. I think he’s definitely sold on the 750 now. He really enjoyed it.

There was definitely a good bit of traffic this weekend. On our first trip through The Gap around 10:30am there was a nice group of Mazda’s going through. I videoed the first 6 minutes of our trip through so I could have some footage of the dragon, but I didn’t get the entire 11 miles. I stopped recording when we came up on a group of slow cars that kind of put an end to the enjoyable ride (even in the Blazer). By the afternoon there was a nice group of bikes.

We also passed a total of 5 Blunt Co. and 1 THP on the way through the first time. By the time we came back with the bikes a lot of the cars had headed out to check out the other roads in the area, and THP only had 1 trooper out. The cops were pretty nice for most of the day.

We did have a little trouble at the end of the day, but the trooper was pretty nice about it. We didn’t know that there’s an age limit in Tennessee for passengers. In SC you can ride as long as you can touch the pegs, but in Tennessee you have to be 14. Allison pulled over once we got out of the curvy roads to let Little A ride with her. We passed a THP sitting on the side of the road, so instead of pulling her over he just followed her back to our friend’s house to make sure nothing went wrong. We really need to get a list together of the different laws for the different states to be sure we aren’t doing something we’re not supposed to be doing.

We ended up back at our friend’s house for a BBQ, then we loaded up last night and made it home at 1am. I didn’t take any photos at the BBQ because my camera battery didn’t want to cooperate. Hopefully my new one will be here in a couple days.

At the end of the day we grabbed a few photos at the Deal’s Gap sign.

Yeah, I’m Still Pissed

I finally got a hold of one of our friends last night who Hubby was supposed to meet up with yesterday. When I hadn’t heard from any of them by nightfall I started to wonder if something had gone wrong, and that’s why they didn’t meet Hubby.

I went back through my texts to find out the times I’d heard from everyone. My friend text me at noon telling me she was on the dragon. At 12:56 Hubby text me from the top of the dragon to tell me he was riding 1 more time and coming home. That’s also when he told me he hadn’t seen any of our friends. To me, that just wasn’t right. Unless something happened he’d been there for a full hour and 1/2 waiting on them riding back and forth on his own. He would have at least passed them.

So worrying me text her at 9pm last night to see if she was home yet since I had been told they’d be loading up to head home around 5pm. No reply. At midnight last night my friend text me to say they were loading up and leaving. That was a full 12 hours where I didn’t know what was going on with my texts and hubby’s being ignored.

Now it pisses me off even more because I know nothing went wrong. If someone went down or something happened I could understand ditching him, but the fact that nothing did happen means there’s no excuse why he rode 2 1/2 hours up there after they begged him only for them to not show.

We normally plan our Gap trips around her days off, but not again. If she’s going to be that way I’m not going out of my way to accommodate her schedule.
