Ok not really, but pretty darn close!
This is turning out to be the shittiest day ever. I’ve been running in circles all morning, and now I’m sitting here digging little pieces of glass out of my ankles and feet. Yes…glass in my ankles and feet.
UGH!
You may be asking how exactly this glass got there. Well, It’s one of those things with an odds of like 1:100,000,000,000 which means it’s probably only going to happen to me…being the walking target that I am. I’m just thankful I’m not digging glass out of my head right now.
I’m lacking sleep. I got about 2 1/2 hours of sleep yesterday afternoon, and that’s it. I’ve been trying to go to sleep all day, but people keep waking me up right as I dose off so, I decided to take a relaxing bubble bath. That’s when the power company decided to finally show up to install the Surge Guard box thing on the outside of the house. They were supposed to do it two weeks ago, but they’re slacking. It’s something my Grandparent’s insisted we get, and it’s their house so I do what they ask.
Here I was in the bath when the dog started barking like mad and the power went off. I jumped out of the tub, wrapped myself up in my bath robe and took off to see what was up. I didn’t even make it to a window to spot the power company truck before the glass thing happened.
I had a huge hurricane type candle holder sitting on top of the fridge. I pulled it out when the power went out the other night, and instead of packing it back up I sat it on top of the fridge out of the way. It looked like the Shelter From The Storm Hurricanes from Uncommon Goods, only it was a 12″.
Apparently the power guys started installing the box, and they were using some force to get it installed. They hit something that made the entire house shake…
right as I walked through the kitchen…
hurricane candle holder comes crashing down…
misses my head by about 4″…
CRASH!
It landed between my feet and shattered. Boy did it shatter! I only had two large pieces of glass to pick up…one being the bottom of the glass, the other being about a 3″ x 2″ piece of glass. The rest sort of just disintegrated. Considering that I was standing there practically naked with nothing but a robe on I feel kind of lucky that I only have glass in my feet and ankles.
What was left of the glass spread across the kitchen and dining room floors. I even swept huge piles of “glass dust” from the doorway to my office, a good 10′ away from the actual crash site. When I felt the glass hit my legs my girl parts suddenly felt very overexposed underneath my robe!
I’ve swept the floor 4 times, and it’s still shimmering. My hands and legs look the same even though I’ve washed both. As soon as the water heats back up I’m going to jump in the shower to try to remove what I can, and I’m keeping the dog in the office. I can’t imagine what would happen if he were to step on a piece of glass right now. I’ve tried to get it up, but I know there’s still a ton that’s still there. I’ll have to borrow my mom’s vacuum as soon as she gets home from work.
